Lufthansa Group has finalised its 41 percent stake in ITA Airways, approving the transaction of 325 million euros. The two parties had already agreed in May 2023 that Deutsche Lufthansa AG would acquire a minority stake of 41 percent in ITA Airways. ITA Airways 🇮🇹 is a new member of the Lufthansa Group after a capital increase of €325m by Deutsche Lufthansa AG for a 41% stake. The remaining 59% will initially continue to be held by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance. Italy will thus become a further “home market” for the Lufthansa Group. The country is already the company's second most important international market after the USA, outside the existing home markets of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Belgium. The five-star Rome Fiumicino Airport will be the sixth and southernmost Lufthansa Group hub. Valuing Exceptional Customer Service During Critical Moments 🏆 Yesterday, I faced a challenging travel experience that highlighted the true value of great customer service. My evening flight ✈ from Düsseldorf to Prague with Eurowings was canceled with no alternative options provided. It was a struggle to secure a new flight, retrieve my luggage, and navigate the situation without any assistance. However, the real test of customer service came when my next flight from Frankfurt with Lufthansa was also canceled late at night. Unlike Eurowings, Lufthansa immediately provided information about alternative flights and arranged accommodation for me. This experience taught me that while good customer service makes simple tasks seamless, its true value shines during complex and urgent situations 🙏. As we reach the end of the year, I write this post for the traditional year in review, and what a year it was... - Travelled to 10 countries in 4 continents - Did 62 commercial flights with over 152 flight hours - 18 with TAP Air Portugal - 16 with Air France - 11 with Transavia - the others with easyJet, Emirates, Royal Air Maroc, Cabo Verde Airlines, Ryanair - Europe's Favourite Airline - Did 14 train rides in 3 countries - Drove 32.000kms in 6 countries - Opened Airways Aviation in #CaboVerde and #Morocco - Attended events in 7 countries - Helped the team acquiring Professione Volare S.r.l. and adding #Italy to the network - Increased B2C sales 26% - Improved operational efficiency, increasing flights 35% compared to 2023 - Negotiated B2B contracts that will come into the line in 2025 - and much much more... 2024 was really the year where we managed to completely rebound from Brexit and the Pandemic and once again re-start a #growth and #expansion to the levels we see fit to comply with our #mission and #vision. But the best of the year was to work with so many amazing people from different origins, cultures and align them under the same vision, led by our Founder & Chairman Romy Hawatt Excited with everything 2025 will bring us, and see the results of all the #work and effort we've been putting in.
