An interview question I ask to help identify a great sales leader: What are your greatest accomplishments? If they only talk about all of the great stuff they did, not a great sales leader. If they talk about all of the salespeople they lifted up to better places, that's a great sales leader. ✅ Great sales leaders don't seek the spotlight, they seek to make a difference in the lives of the salespeople entrusted to them. I had the same experience Kevin Gaither. The sales leaders who care about their team , create the most positive and productive work environment . Their success is tied to the success of their team .
It's all about building up the team. Celebrating those team wins. When someone focuses on that, you know you've got someone with the right mindset.
Great sales leaders understand that success is a team sport. Lifting others up creates a legacy far beyond personal achievements. Love this perspective!
Great sales leaders never try to sell themselves! Their stories would always start with "WE" and examples would mostly be about how they helped team members realize their potential and grow!
Kevin Gaither I agree, especially when you practice servitude leadership. Unfortunately, I've heard many career gurus tell interviewees that they need to emphasize their individual accomplishments in an interview. If interviewers are being taught this as well, candidates who adopt this approach (which again, is the correct one IMO) are screwed. Interviewing is a two way street and both parties have to be accountable.
So if they talk about all the great stuff they did, they are a great sales leader. Got it. In case anyone thinks I misread, nope. Sales leaders helping their team members succeed *is* their accomplishment.
Nailed it!
It's so true that the best leaders shine through the achievements of their team. Lifting others up is what makes all the difference.
