As some firms face cost-cutting measures, we see the rise of advisors, consultants, and part-time CSOs to help firms develop strategies and meet important regulatory requirements. The fractional CSO is a good option, particularly for large private equity firms with many portfolio companies. The fractional CSOs can set the vision and policy, implement the strategy, and set up reporting before, if necessary, handing over to a full-time hire. This is classic in a cost-controlled (high interest rates) market. While we see things improving in Q4, we think the growth in the consultancy space and fractional CSOs is a trend to watch.
