Proper email deliverability setup can get confusing Yet, mastering a few critical elements can set you on the right path. Here are a few things you should always prioritize 👇 1. Properly setup your DNS settings ↳ Make sure SPF, DKIM, DMARC, and domain redirect are setup 2. Rotate your IP addresses ↳ Doing this will keep your open rates and domains healthy 3. Watch your sender reputation ↳ Track metrics like spam complaints, unsubscribes, and bounce rates to identify problems as soon as possible 4. Proper domain warm-up ↳ Make sure to warm up your sending addresses for at least 14 days before sending You can use a tool that’s specifically built for that like Mailivery - Land in the Inbox to get the best results As much as it’s important to craft relevant cold emails It can be even more important to optimize deliverability Because without deliverability your messaging won’t get to your recipient What are your favorite email deliverability practices?
"2. Rotate your IP addresses ↳ Doing this will keep your open rates and domains healthy".....This is a great way to look like a spammer
Another great post Malik. Adding to your 4 points, I’d make sure to perform thorough testing before the campaign launch and while the campaign is sending. Tools like Mail-Tester or InboxInsight provide you with a comprehensive overview of your set up from authentication, spam trigger words to blacklisting. This practice has saved me countless times
Great points Malik and informative! I also try to make sure remove hard bounces and non engaged customers if we haven't had responses in a while.
Point #2 activated my trap card! I play, “That’s not going to work,” from the Boring Old Professor deck. Because rotating IPs might have worked years ago, but… 1. What about the domain as a point of correlation? Google has relied on this as their primary brand identifier for a long while now cuz getting new IPs is too easy. 2. What about the physical business address, and or phone number as a pattern matchable token? 3. What about similarity analysis between pieces of hashed content? 4. What about the domain age? 5. The domain registrar? 6. The ASN the IPs belong to? 7. The owner the IPs belong to based on the ARIN entry? 8. The familiarity and foot print in the region the IPs you’re sending from have? If you think managing and diversifying around all these points of correlation sounds like too much work, that’s exactly the point! Spam filters just have to play the long game, focus on email user experience, ecosystem protection, and making it unprofitable to game them at scale. This means aggressive filtering for perceived cybersecurity threats, but merely irrelevant messages will probably get through at a certain scale for a while, but they always get caught in the end.
Deliverability really is the foundation of cold email success. You can have the best offer + message but if you land in spam nobody will see it..
Malik Shamsuddin can you clarify what you mean with rotating IPs? Do you mean “balance loading”? Meaning the same IPs rotates? Or do you recommend burn IPs and then switch them out (rotate out)?
Rotate your IPs, what a silly and dangerous recommendation. Even for spammers
Another good practice is putting your copy in spam checkers so they don't get flagged. You'd be surprised at how many words can be dangerous.
Why would you rotate your IP addresses?

7moIndeed, maintaining deliverability is just as vital as crafting great emails - without inbox placement, all the effort is wasted. Great tips, Malik! 👍
