🗣 Last week, the CCSA’s CEO Ruth Herbert MPhys FEI, spoke at INNO-CCUS's Danish CCUS Summit 2024 in Copenhagen. The summit brought together industry leaders, academics, and public institutions to explore the future of CCUS and its societal impact both in Denmark and globally. Ruth delivered a talk on "Developing a CCUS Ecosystem in the UK: Policy and Project,” covering UK Government CCUS policies, carbon capture models, regulatory aspects, the UK CCUS Cluster Sequencing Programme, and collaboration needs in CO2 shipping. This morning our colleague Sanne van Breukelen presented the uptake of zero emission buses in the Netherlands in a Polish webinar. She was asked to do so by our Polish friends from Centrum Unijnych Projektów Transportowych (CUPT): Paweł Engel MBA and Edyta Boratyńska-Karpiej. Working with our European partners in the eBRT2030 project has taught us how valuable sharing knowledge with other European countries on zero emission bus projects is. This webinar again was an example of sharing the state of the art. These are the times when you wish you speak all languages 😉, but even if you don't, the pictures and translate computers can help us understand the basics. Which is: the context may differ, but the challenges are similar. And it seems a lot smarter to face them together! Sometimes you're lucky to work with great people. Sometimes you're lucky to work with great products... ...and occasionally you're lucky enough to have the two combine at the same time! Of course, you make your own luck and the IET Events team (and I use that term as wide as possible because it encompasses the marketing, sales and customer services plus everyone else that supports us to ensure that we are able to deliver great events) have been working hard to deliver some great events but two in particular have stood out for the judges of the Conference & Events Awards We have been shortlisted in 6 categories in the 2024 Awards. The European Conference on Optical Communications held with the help of our friends at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) and Glasgow Convention Bureau has been nominated for: - Best Association Event (we won that in 2022 for CIRED) - Best Development of an Existing Conference/Event (over 1,100) - Best UK Conference - Best Conference/Events Team A second event in Glasgow, Powering Net Zero, which was a development of the pre-existing Renewable Power Generation Conference brought together the subjects of RPG, Electric Vehicle Infrastructure and Energy Storage. The delegates found it very useful to network between the industries and the content, of course, was top class. This event has been shortlisted for: - Best Development of an Existing Conference/Event (up to 1,100) And finally the magnificent team themselves have been shortlisted for: - Best Conference/Events Team (therefore competing with the the ECOC Events Team!) To say we're happy about that would be a gross understatement.
