Have you thought about your sleep quality in your daily business routine? 🧠💡 Interesting article written by Harvard tells you why it’s important to rest, even being a leader. Take a look! “(…)When bosses slept poorly, they were more likely to exhibit abusive behavior the next day, which resulted in lower levels of engagement among subordinates. When the boss doesn’t feel rested, the whole unit pays a price. Sleep also affects managers’ ability to inspire and motivate those around them.”

"Sleep Better, Lead Better" emphasizes the critical link between quality sleep and effective leadership. The book, written by Dr. Chris Winter, argues that sufficient rest is not just beneficial but essential for leaders to perform optimally. Dr. Winter, a sleep specialist, outlines how poor sleep can impair decision-making, creativity, and emotional regulation—key components of leadership. By prioritizing sleep, leaders can enhance their cognitive functions, boost their energy levels, and improve their overall well-being. This, in turn, leads to more effective decision-making, better problem-solving, and improved interpersonal relationships within their teams. "Sleep Better, Lead Better" makes a compelling case that investing in sleep is not just a personal benefit but a professional necessity for successful leadership. #sleep #leadership # decision making

Just as laughter is a powerful #KPI for workplace culture and leader efficacy so, too, is #sleep. Leaders, if you want to learn more about #EmployeeExperience, start your next meeting with this simple prompt: “How’s everyone sleeping?” Be honest and vulnerable with your own response, and remember: “When bosses slept poorly, they were more likely to exhibit abusive behavior the next day, which resulted in lower levels of #engagement among subordinates. When the boss doesn’t feel rested, the whole unit pays a price. Working hard doesn’t mean we have to sacrifice our much-needed rest. In fact, true hard work extends beyond just our professional responsibilities; it also encompasses our wellness and well-being. It's essential to recognize that a balanced individual, who takes care of their physical and mental health, is better equipped to lead a team and deliver higher performance. Prioritizing rest, self-care, and a healthy work-life balance not only enhances personal well-being but also sets a positive example for others. This holistic approach to hard work fosters a more productive, motivated, and resilient workforce.

" As Bezos says, “Making a small number of key decisions well is more important than making a large number of decisions. If you shortchange your sleep, you might get a couple of extra ‘productive’ hours, but that productivity might be an illusion.” Even worse, as my research highlights, you’ll negatively affect your subordinates. If instead you make sleep a priority, you will be a more successful leader who inspires better work in your employees. Don’t handicap yourself or your team by failing to get enough rest" #sleepwell #leadbetter #leadership #team

We often think that working harder and longer hours is the way to lead effectively, but the truth is, you can’t lead at your best if you’re running on empty. Getting enough rest isn’t just about feeling good—it’s about reducing conflict and making better decisions. Harvard Business Review’s article, “Sleep Better, Lead Better,” dives into why a well-rested leader is a more effective one. 💎 When you’re well-rested, you’re more emotionally balanced, better at handling stress, and less likely to let conflicts escalate nor fester. And let’s be real, when you’re tired, everything feels a lot bigger than it is. 🌟 Steps to Reduce Conflict with More Rest: 1. Prioritize Sleep: Make it non-negotiable. Your leadership depends on it. 2. Set Boundaries: Create a work-life balance that allows you to recharge. 3. Lead by Example: Encourage your team to value rest just as much as hard work. Read the full article below and see why getting more sleep might be the secret to reducing conflict and leading with clarity. Share it with your network—because we could all use a little more rest to lead our best! #Leadership #ConflictResolution #TheConflictChick #WorkplaceHarmony #SleepBetterLeadBetter #EmotionalIntelligence

Sleep is important for your state of mind and I sleep better when my head is clear of clutter. That’s a fact. I believe the way we address our sleep is so important for our ability to handle the stress of our roles. “My research shows that sleep deprivation doesn’t just hurt individual performance: When managers lose sleep, their employees’ experiences and output are diminished too.” Christopher M. Barnes HBR Contributor One of the key tools I use in addition to those articulated in the article is the break my activities into bitesize activities with time tasking where I schedule the time to address each component of the activities each day. It unclutters my mind in preparation of the good night sleep. “Making a small number of key decisions well is more important than making a large number of decisions.” Christopher M. Barnes As a leader remember: “Sleep also affects managers’ ability to inspire and motivate those around them” Christopher M. Barnes #ThatsInzenius #Payroll

I very much believe this is true, but there is no conversation about the QUALITY of sleep. It's not just about getting in a nap, in or adhering to a full eight hours. I'd like to hear more discussion about how stress can impact the quality of sleep and what that does to our work. How do we make our workplaces less stressful and/or more supportive of stress reduction methods?
