Here are some of the alarming facts revealed in the 2025 Primary Care Scorecard released today, showing how underinvestment in primary care Is failing US patients: 🌟 Primary care accounts for less than 5% of total US health spending and our fee-for-service payment system doesn’t reward primary care. Average reimbursement for a primary care visit is one-fifth of reimbursement for a gastroenterology visit. 🌟 The percentage of nurse practitioners and physician assistants in primary care has dipped to new lows. 🌟 Fewer new primary care physicians are entering the workforce in states with more GME funding. 🌟 Only 24.4% of new physicians entered primary care, marking the lowest rate in a decade.
