Harnessing public perception to drive responsible AI in healthcare - Digital Health As healthcare technology evolves, understanding public and staff perceptions of AI is crucial. Research shows that while 54% of the public supports AI in patient care, concerns about diminishing human elements and decision-making accuracy persist. NHS staff are generally more supportive, reflecting their familiarity with healthcare systems. The language used to describe innovations, like virtual wards, significantly impacts public acceptance. Additionally, equitable access remains a challenge, particularly for lower-income groups. To realize AI's potential, we must ensure responsible implementation that prioritizes collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. #HealthcareIT #AIinHealthcare #DigitalHealth #HealthEquity #PatientCare #Innovation #NHS ai.mediformatica.com #health #healthcare #staff #technology #digital #research #rewired #responsibleai #aiinhealthcare #healthfoundation #nhsstaff #thehealthfoundation #digitalhealth #healthit #healthtech #healthcaretechnology @MediFormatica (https://buff.ly/4hi9Okf)

Health and AI 👉 https://lnkd.in/ejwQD-ZE The OECD assembled a time-limited Expert Group on AI for Health to create a forum for exchange and mutual learning and address the challenges of implementing AI at scale in a human-centred, responsible, equitable, and sustainable manner. The strategic use of science and technology can empower people to lead healthy lives and make well-being a reality. AI can automate administrative tasks and free substantial time for healthcare providers to focus on patient care. It can also extend health services to remote or underserved areas, improving healthcare access for millions worldwide living hours away from the nearest healthcare facility. Furthermore, personal AI assistants can enhance health literacy, reduce information asymmetry between healthcare providers and patients, reinforce shared decision-making, and ultimately empower patients. Read more in this blog post by #oecd staff Derya Şahin, MD and Eric Sutherland. What hospital IT will look like in 2035 Here are eight predictions from the report on what will change about hospital and health system IT in the next decade-plus: 1. Artificial intelligence bots will provide patients with improved access to their benefits and better match them with providers. 2. Enhanced data integration in clinical workflows will ease provider burnout from currently cumbersome technology tools. 3. RPM will stand for remote patient "management," not just monitoring, and will include more health data from more compact smart devices that will be processed quicker via advanced computing power. 4. Technology will better identify and match clinical trial participants beyond just academic medical centers. 5. Labor productivity will be enhanced by ChatGPT-like solutions, creating more back office and administrative efficiencies. 6. AI will automate more repetitive tasks for providers, including prior authorizations, care planning, consultations triggered by assessments, and robotic medication administration. 7. More patients will be treated virtually, including for complex conditions, with an increase in devices that allow patients to conduct physical exams themselves, supervised by virtual physicians, with the data being sent to the care team in real time. 8. The Internet of Things will enable better at-home care, with quicker connection to providers through video, phone, email and text, and real-time data uploads, increasing the use of hospital-at-home care. #hospitalit #healthtech #medtech #healthcareai

Thank you, Digital Health, for including us in your 2025 predictions! This year will be an opportunity to take stock of the realistic applications of AI and how those can support the health workforce. We must expand how we measure success with AI applications. We will focus on how such applications can help improve population health outcomes and patient safety. And we will ideally move beyond simple financial returns-on-investment and include a focus on qualitative wins, such as improved health workforce experience, wellbeing, or retention. If AI is simply used to propagate existing systems or processes, we will have massively missed our opportunity to use such capabilities to re-think how clinicians interact with and serve patients.
