𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆. 𝟱.𝟬 Okay. It's 50. I'm turning 50 today. It's unbelievable. I've been preparing myself for this for months. A few weeks ago I read a post on LinkedIn saying the fifties are the new thirties. AND I LOVE THIS ❤️ It's true. I don't feel like 50. When my grandparents were 50, they were much "older". I still have many years to work & headhunt amazing talents I still have many years to run, play tennis, and do fitness I still have many years to enjoy friends..and to party 😉 I still have many years to travel I still have many years to eat delicious food & drink good wine I still have many years to excel, learn, and improve I still have many years to change house/flat and renovate AGAIN I still have 1 year before my daughter will fit my shoe size and many years where I can use her fancy shoes 😅 The list is endless. But I still prefer to call it 5.0. Because it sounds so much better, it's an upgraded version 😃 Are you hitting the open road with me for a long weekend? As I sit and read my LinkedIn news feed, I'm seeing so much heartache and uncertainty. Words can't fully capture the sadness, loss of hope, and fear about the future that many are experiencing—wondering where the next meal will come from or if they'll lose their homes. To my fellow LinkedIn network, I want you to know you are worthy. You are skilled. Your job loss wasn't a reflection of your abilities. For some reason, the company made a decision, and it wasn't your fault. It's okay, and it's going to be okay. Never stop pushing forward. If you have to send out 100 resumes, do it. If you need to adopt a 'pray and spray' approach, go for it. If you have to Uber, Lyft, or do gig work to make ends meet, then do it. Keep going until you find something that matches your worth. It's not okay right now, but it will be. Don't give up. Learn from this experience, and know that better days are ahead. You have the strength to overcome this.

In May 2020, at the start of the pandemic, I was laid off. My initial reaction was calm and a little nervous. 🥴 Then my ego jumped in, yelling with anger and fear: "What about financial security? And who do they think they are letting me go?! Do they know I've been called a high performer!" (Yikes! My Ego can be furious). But here’s the kicker: two months earlier, I had asked for this, but it slipped my mind. I had journaled for more time, space, and resources to explore the pull I was feeling—something calling me forward. And it was delivered, just not in the way I expected. 😳 That weekend, I paused. I went inward and chose to take what I now call my “self-appointed summer sabbatical.” It wasn’t easy. Letting go of the fear of uncertainty? That’s work. But pushing yourself into decisions out of financial fear, scarcity, or missing out on a potential opportunity often leads to something that feels safe, but is wildly misaligned. The biggest lessons? You can’t force clarity by rushing forward from a place of fear AND letting go of what no longer serves you is creating the space needed. Creating space—real space—allows what’s next to reveal itself. It means trusting that the roadblocks are often detours leading you exactly where you’re meant to go. The best career decision I ever made started with pausing. Listening to my intuition. Feeling what my body was telling me. And then gathering the courage to take aligned action. If you’re feeling stuck—overthinking what’s next, fearful of losing what you’ve built—I invite you to make space. Trust the whispers. They often lead to your truest path.
