It will take all forms if dispatchable products until it doesn’t. There will be more gas gen added in next few years but a GR8 deal more energy storage to capture arbitrage opportunities. At some point with technological improvements gas fired plants will not be necessary. Not in my lifetime but at some point thereafter.

Increasing the reliability, resiliency, affordability, and sustainability of energy systems in Texas.

From the Houston Chronicle today. Gift link below. "At an ERCOT board meeting Tuesday, CEO Pablo Vegas said the expected growth is driven in large part by the rise of artificial intelligence, data centers and cryptocurrency mining; the electrification of sectors including oil and gas operations; emerging hydrogen production and increased industrial manufacturing fueled by the Inflation Reduction Act. “'Given that reality, we are the best market in the country to react to that kind of growth. We have the ability in ERCOT to connect dispatchable resources faster than any place else in the country. Batteries, I believe, are going to respond and start to fill in a lot of that,' Vegas said.... "Though Lewin said he expected only some of the projected demand to materialize, he said he wouldn’t be surprised to see 150 gigawatts of power demand in Texas in a decade if state leaders welcome the anticipated growth. “'If the desire — and this is an ‘if’ question people should ask — if the desire is for the economy to grow robustly, and we want all this, we want data centers, we want hydrogen production, we can have it. Because it's going to be very hard for those kinds of loads to locate other places,' Lewin said." https://lnkd.in/gw78UDW3
