The past few years have clearly shown us that crises not only present challenges but also offer opportunities for companies and leaders. The article by Haufe highlights some key principles that can become a real competitive advantage in uncertain times. Especially important: authentic leadership, empathy, and the ability to manage change with agility. In times when markets, employee needs, and internal structures are constantly changing, it is not enough to simply react. Successful leaders must proactively foster a corporate culture that strengthens resilience and trust. This not only means making the right decisions as a leader but, above all, acting with and for the team and creating transparency. What particularly resonates with me is the emphasis on communicative clarity. Especially in crises, it is crucial that all employees feel their leaders know the direction and actively involve them in the change process. If there was one thing I saw during my years as an Applied Theatre practitioner it was how the power of positiv thinking empowers people to outperform themselves. Thinking positive, even in the midst of an economic crisis, is vital for creating an atmosphere in society where progress can be made. In my editorial today I am making the case for a more positive and inspiring rhetoric from our political leaders. There is a lot of talk about the importance of innovation but not a lot of talk that would create an innovative culture in society. We need leaders who inspire, not leaders who drag us down.
