I'm interested! Passionate retired Literacy Instructional Coach for K-5 Title I School in Yuba City CA. During my tenure there, I, with the trust of my Principal and enthusiastic cooperation of my colleagues designed the first and only weekly PLCs in our school district. One shift we implemented was Step Up to Writing. We used grant funding for Title I improvements through ongoing professional development. Step Up to Writing held a summer professional development class, teachers began implementing at the beginning of the school year. Early release days included writing samples , questions, professional reading, and sharing information within and across grade levels regarding the successes and challenges of implementing and refining the teaching and students learning to become competent writers. Step Up to Writing Consultants returned every eight weeks to either demonstrate lessons, and/or observe lessons to provide teachers with specific feedback regarding the lessons, process, effective feedback to students. Subs covered classes, allowing teachers to observe the demonstration lessons. We Implemented the writing program and a reading comprehension program using the process. Earned two Title1 Achivement Awards as a result.
