Product Strategy Development Process I thought lately, it would be nice having quick reference guides as a reminder to outline the key steps of processes we do use every day as a product manager. So, I went ahead and started by creating this guide about the process of developing a product strategy. This can be a handy tool to quickly reference the overall process. I've tried to keep the explanations concise to focus on the key steps. I hope it helps the way it is. I'll probably be sharing more guides like this with you in a series of product management processes in the near future.

Product management involves the strategic work required to develop ideas, plan, produce, test, implement, and withdraw products from the market. Product managers are responsible for managing the product's lifecycle and understanding all factors impacting it. Product managers are product owners and create a roadmap for their products. Product managers need to know their customers' difficulties, needs, challenges, and product interests. They must learn to think like a customer and listen to their voice. Product managers create personas to better understand the person using their product. They also need to be able to think critically and be a skilled communicator.

Alignment is essential in product management, but it can become a painful process when there are cultural issues that drain people's time and energy. While product managers strive to create impactful products for their users, they must also identify and address inefficiencies in alignment. If they fail to voice these concerns, they will likely find themselves at a standstill, unable to make meaningful progress or impact.

𝟳 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 The product management process describes the steps needed to take a product from its initial concept to its final launch. This process can mean releasing a new product or feature or iterating on an existing one. Let’s take a closer look at the processes: ~ Finding the problem ~ Questioning the problem ~ Testing possible solutions ~ Defining a solution ~ Prioritizing product features and initiatives ~ Building a minimum viable product (MVP) ~ Releasing the MVP The steps and stages outlined above can help guide you through the process, but there are plenty of reasons to wander off this particular path—like to prioritize before building a roadmap or spend more time creating product specs before launch. Even if you choose to complete these steps in a different order, they’re all ingredients to building products that both delight customers and achieve business goals. Product management is a journey, not a destination 🛣 But where to start? 1️⃣ Define the problem 2️⃣ Identify your users 3️⃣ Map out user journeys 4️⃣ Prioritize features 5️⃣ Build a prototype 6️⃣ Test with users 7️⃣ Launch and learn 8️⃣ Iterate and repeat You're not done yet, what comes next is just as important. 9️⃣ Measure performance 🔟 Collect feedback 🔢 Analyze data 1️⃣1️⃣ Iterate again Starting and finishing with the customer in mind is critical. It's not a perfect process, but it's better than not having one. What does your product management process look like?

The Product Lifecycle From Viewpoint of Product Managers A while ago, I wondered if there was a comprehensive framework that covers all the essential steps required for effective product management from a product manager’s perspective. After some research, I couldn’t find something that interest me enough as a comprehensive framework for the entire product management lifecycle, including all the necessary steps, models, and methods. So, I decided to create one myself. Explaining all the elements isn’t feasible here. However, I want to share an overview of its “big picture”. It’s important to note that all components in this framework do not carry the same weight or importance. Also, some elements need to be expanded upon multiple steps, which made it challenging to place them in the most meaningful position. Nevertheless, I have tried to place them as logically as possible. There are numerous other models and methods that can be integrated into this framework or can be replaced by those I mentioned as sample. I just tried to cover the basics to provide a clear path for beginners to navigate in the general atmosphere of product management.

Ever heard people say product management doesn't really contribute to success? Let's challenge that notion! Product management is akin to mastering the art of a symphony, where aligning customer needs and business goals creates harmony. It's not simply about creating products; it's about defining the product vision and strategy, understanding the market deeply, and ensuring continuous alignment across functions. However, product management is thriving for us. We’re seeing amazing results – from developing innovative products that resonate with customer needs to effectively entering new markets. It takes a lot of work. You need a proper strategy, the right tools, testing, and time. But what are the options? Give up on product management? Or Innovate, optimize, and push for better results. Seems like an easy choice to us #ProductManagement #Innovation #BusinessStrategy #CustomerSuccess #MarketAlignment
