We are thrilled to announce that the R. J. Corman Railroad Company Pennsylvania Lines (RJCP) has been awarded a $2.9 million grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT). This grant, alongside a 30% R. J. Corman match, will help replace 43,930 linear feet of rail on the Cresson and Cherry Tree subdivisions. We are deeply grateful for this investment and PennDOT's continued support and commitment to our rail freight network and local economic development. Together, we are building a stronger, more connected Pennsylvania. For more information, please visit this link: https://lnkd.in/garfak42

The Saint Paul Port Authority is proud to announce that we have secured a $636,000 planning grant from the Federal Railroad Administration's Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Program, thanks to the invaluable support from our Minnesota Congressional Delegation. These funds will enable us to study the elimination of an at-grade railroad crossing within our Southport River Terminal, a critical step toward improving safety and mobility for people and goods within the Port of Saint Paul and Mississippi River transportation corridor. We are grateful for the opportunity to advance this important initiative and for the continued support of our elected officials.

More great news for Mobile, AL!
Passenger rail services will be returning to Mobile in 2025, in conjunction with a $178Million investment in the coastal rail lines, which includes $72Million to upgrade rail infrastructure for the Port of Mobile. This win is a testament to partnerships and leadership by all involved. This project would not be possible without the cooperation, leadership, and vision of Senator Roger Wicker, the Southern Rail Commission, Mayor Sandy Stimpson, the Mobile City Council, Amtrak, CSX, the Alabama Port Authority, Governor Kay Ivey, the Federal Railroad Administration, the Federal Department of Transportation, and many other supporting organizations.

Allen County was awarded up to $400,000 to evaluate alternatives to improve an at-grade crossing of Norfolk Southern and Scott Road. The initiative, dubbed C.R.O.S.S. (Comprehensive Rail Overpass Safety Strategy) Scott Road Project, will explore the feasibility of a grade separation, which means the construction of an over- or under-pass. The grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration was one of only 6 given to projects in Indiana, out of 123 awarded nationally. Rail Trivia Tuesday: Chartered in 1848 by the Virginia General Assembly, the Orange and Alexandria Railroad (O&A), originally connected Alexandria to Gordonsville, and later expanded in 1854 from Charlottesville to Lynchburg. The O&A was built to link Alexandria, the port city, with the agricultural and industrial riches of Central Virginia. Its main objective was to make it easier for people and products to move around, promoting trade and regional economic growth. The O&A was a strategically significant location during the American Civil War. Both Union and Confederate armies used the railroad's path, which resulted in multiple military conflicts and disruptions. The conflict caused serious damage to the infrastructure, which affected how it operated. After the Civil War, the O&A faced financial difficulties and competition with other railroads. After many mergers and consolidations, O&A was absorbed into the Southern Railway system. Today, majority of Orange and Alexandria Railroad right-of-way is part of Norfolk Southern’s rail system, apart from a short segment between Orange and Gordonsville which is part of the Buckingham Branch Railroad. #DidYouKnow that Illinois has a network of nearly 10,000 miles of railroad tracks across the state? As a major transportation hub, it’s important for Illinois leaders to consider ways to modernize our rail infrastructure to enhance safety and efficiency for passengers and freight. It’s great to see major investments being made to boost performance for train transportation in Illinois, like the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project, and we look forward to following its progress. https://lnkd.in/gPSEAgdr
