Behavioural Scientist 🔬 Speaker 📣 Impact Whisperer 🚀 I help ambitious women turn intention into action, creating opportunities that accelerate their careers, drive lasting influence & meaningful real-world impact.

Last week I hosted a Women of Impact dinner… and one question changed the entire tone of the evening.   I’ve recently started running these intimate dinners in Melbourne and Sydney with one simple intention, to create meaningful connection among women who are driven by purpose and impact.   No name tags. No presentations. Just powerful conversations, fuelled by curiosity and shared experience.   To deepen those conversations, I brought along a few question cards, small prompts designed to steer us away from the surface and into something richer.   I had no idea how quickly they’d work.   Sitting next to me was one of my first-ever bosses at Shell (now a senior exec turned private coaching client) and across from us, a young Tanzanian woman working in banking while building a side hustle to drive financial literacy in her community.   She drew the first question card.   “How do you handle moments of self-doubt or insecurity?”   The table exhaled in unison. That moment, that collective recognition of the imposter within, was electric.   As someone who’s been doing this work for years, I still find myself surprised. I can speak to hundreds on a stage, coach women globally, and yet still wonder if I’ll get "found out."   I know I get results. I know I’m great at what I do. And yet… the voice of doubt still lingers.   What unfolded was a raw and beautiful discussion, each of us sharing where our inner imposter shows up and the little tricks we’ve picked up to quiet her down.   And here’s the thing I’ve learnt from coaching high-performing, purpose-led women: the imposter voice rarely disappears… but you can choose how much airtime you give it.   💭 So let me ask you: How do you tame your inner imposter when she starts making noise? Drop your perspective below, I’d love to hear your experience. ⬇️   And if you’d love to be part of a future Women of Impact dinner, email me at [email protected]—I’d love to hear from you. Needed to hear this today, Penny Locaso, especially as I navigate the early stages of my comms for purpose career shift. Doubt and uncertainty creep in when things feel overwhelming. It’s not something a quick mindset shift can fix. It takes inner self-talk, a chat with a friend, or reassurance from a former colleague. But when self-doubt hits, it can blur your vision. As women, we’re conditioned from a young age to second-guess ourselves, and that conditioning doesn’t magically disappear, even mid-career.
