Currently, INTERPOL’s 6 regional bureaus play a crucially important role in enhancing the capabilities of the existing National Central Bureau (NCB) structure by acting as regional focal points, bringing together police forces within specific regions to share experiences and address common crime challenges. Currently, these 6 bureaus are located in: 1. 🇦🇷Argentina (Buenos Aires) 2. 🇨🇲 Cameroon (Yaoundé) 3. 🇨🇮 Côte d’Ivoire (Abidjan) 4. 🇸🇻El Salvador (San Salvador) 5. 🇰🇪Kenya (Nairobi) 6. 🇿🇼Zimbabwe (Harare). They build upon the information and operational framework provided by the NCBs, which serve as each country's focal point for INTERPOL activities, by offering regional perspectives and coordination. Moreover, INTERPOL extends its reach through special representative offices at key international bodies like the African Union in 🇪🇹Addis Ababa, the European Union in 🇧🇪Brussels, and the United Nations in 🇺🇸 New York. Additionally, liaison offices are maintained at the UN Office on Drugs and Crime in 🇦🇹Vienna, at Europol in 🇳🇱The Hague, and for the Caribbean region in 🇧🇧 Bridgetown, Barbados. This network allows INTERPOL to work closely with these entities, sharing its mission to prevent and combat transnational crime, thereby enhancing both regional and global security through joint efforts.
