Leveraging diverse strengths and supporting one another leads to greater success. ⭐️Embrace Change: The characters faced countless life changes—from job shifts to personal growth. In business, adaptability is essential. Embracing change allows us to innovate and thrive in a constantly evolving landscape. ⭐️Communication is Crucial: Remember the famous “We were on a break!” moment? Clear communication can prevent misunderstandings and build stronger relationships, whether with colleagues, clients, or partners. ⭐️Don’t Fear Failure: Joey taught us that it’s okay to fail (and to keep trying!). In the business world, setbacks can be invaluable learning experiences. Embracing a growth mindset fosters resilience and creativity. ⭐️Work-Life Balance: The gang always made time for fun amidst their challenges. Finding a balance between work and personal life enhances overall productivity and well-being. ✨ How do you build a happy, thriving team that avoids burnout? ✨ Over the years, I’ve learned that keeping staff happy is one of the biggest challenges of running a small business. A disconnected or dissatisfied team doesn’t just lower morale—it creates deeper issues that can affect productivity, retention, and growth. In the latest episode of Focus on the Fun Stuff, I spoke with Nic Marks, founder of Friday Pulse and creator of the Happy Planet Index. Nic shared how small business owners can create team cultures that foster genuine, lasting happiness. Key takeaways from our chat: 1️⃣ Balance drives happiness: Combine happiness that fuels progress (enthusiasm, ambition) with happiness that restores calm (connection, recovery). Focusing on one without the other can lead to burnout or disengagement. 2️⃣ Team culture matters most: Even in groups as small as 10, team culture has the biggest impact on day-to-day happiness. Nic’s advice? Treat your team fairly, inspire them with meaningful goals, and let them thrive. At MiPA, we’ve been using Friday Pulse for 18 months, and it’s been instrumental in tracking happiness and addressing potential issues early. Weekly check-ins and quarterly reports have helped us improve conversations, celebrate wins, and prevent burnout as we’ve grown. 🎧 Listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/eHgf6FGC What’s one way you plan to energise your team in 2025? Talking about culture is always a path where I like to tread carefully. Not because of the controversy - who doesn’t like a bit of that? But because there isn’t a one size fits all. Even if the ground rules are basics we do know (right? right?? 👀) : trust, communication, support, flexibility and autonomy, diversity and inclusion, comfort, growth etc. They will not be built the same way depending on the organisation and the individuals that will be part of each group. With the wonderful Evelkah Powell, Jonathan Bannister and Dave Steggert, we have looked at the importance to keep individuality at heart even when building for a group. One quote I love from previous episodes ON Resilience is that “processes are build by people, for the people”, therefore we need to keep the human factor at heart when we build anything. The crew has been able to breakdown practical strategies to help founders get their team on a positive path. Especially when we consider the challenge sclale-ups are facing to growth fast and well if they'd like to not only survive but thrive. I was just about to write down “on the right path” and realised that we do not want to be nurturing this type or right or wrong polarised views. However, there is a healthy way to nurture resilience and it is one where you: ➜ Have purpose, an organisational purpose, and make sure that each individual’s purpose has room in it ➜ Have a plan, a structure, a strategy, and a formula (see screenshot of Jonathan’s white board not mirrored 😆) ➜ Create space for self-care and boundaries, aka as leader or employee: go on walks, develop your skills to grow and learn ➜ Provide resources to train and support your team ➜ Embrace psychological safety beyond just a concept but in application PS: Screenshot of Jonathan’s whiteboard with Ruth Noller's Creativity Formula we tried to reveal during the episode but couldn’t with the mirroring on. So here it is to add the illustration alongside the model he described ;) PS2: Happy Friday! ………………….. My name is Mouna Laaragat, I’m a resilience coach and workshops facilitator. I host these live podcasts 🎙️ ON Resilience to share resilience stories worth spreading, for creators, leaders and entrepreneurs to inspire and be inspired. ♻️Repost! Spread the love and resilience! 💛

I have worked in these environments, and this time of mindset is so harmful for morale and engagement. Ignoring, or worse belittling, someone's hardship is one of the easiest ways to turn a top performer into an unengaged shell. Empathy seems to be at a premium now in our society, but it is vitally essential to lead people, especially now. Many of my friends and neighbors are actively afraid of what violent extremism could mean for their lives. Fearing whether your personhood is up for debate or your legally obtained migrant status could be stripped at any time is always going to weigh on someone's mind more than his or her sales quota or the company's monthly utilization. Maslow's hierarchy tells us if our physiological, safety, and social needs are not being met, we don't have the foundation we need to be able to excel in the cognitive, interpersonal, self-actualizing traits that drive top-performers. If we aren't taking care of the whole human and making space for the emotional and physiological needs of our people, we will eventually lose them.
It's time to accept that the "leave your feelings at the door" mentality is outdated and harmful to the people working for you. It's also hurting your business. This moment is a significant one in defining what the employee experience at your company 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘴. Not what you 𝘴𝘢𝘺 it is, not what you 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 - how it 𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭𝘴 to work on your team. How you navigate this moment will define how your team remembers your leadership or lack thereof. People Leaders, you have a choice to make. We've all read the headlines and watched the TikToks. You know that, most likely, at least one person on your team feels unsafe right now. And they know that you know that, too. Alex defined option 1 in his post this morning: "When we tell people to 'focus on work' while their humanity is under attack online, we're not maintaining professionalism. we're exercising privilege." Choosing option 1 is the easy path. In doing this, you're telling your team that their feelings are invalid or wrong, and they need to stuff them down and keep on. This is the easy option because it's so common here in the US to be disconnected from ourselves. I was reminded by Ezra Bookman on Oren Shai's podcast that, every day, some of the most brilliant minds with [the deepest pockets!] work tirelessly to find new ways to keep us distracted, disconnected, dissociated, and ashamed. They want us to feel disconnected from our emotions because that makes us easier to control, at least in theory. Option 2 is to actually rise to the occasion and show up for your people. Most managers won't do this because it is uncomfortable 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮. As the saying goes, "You can't meet another person any more deeply than you've met yourself." And if you, too, are used to stuffing down how you feel, then this will take some getting used to. Option 2 requires you to hold space for the messiness that makes us all human. It doesn't mean you become the team therapist; it just means you make it clear to your people that you give a shit about them by actually caring enough to understand their experience. I don't know about you, but if I told my boss I was having a hard time or receiving hate, and they told me to "just focus on work," I would probably never tell them anything again. They've clearly demonstrated that they only care about me so far as I can make them successful. But, if they hold space for me to share how I'm feeling and how it's impacting me, and perhaps they even validate that my feelings make sense, I will move mountains to make that leader successful. I will also follow them just about anywhere. When the stats say that 70% of an employee's experience stems from their relationship with their manager, this is what People people mean. You could design the best employee engagement program in the world and your eNPS will 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 be low if managers choose option 1. #humanresources #leadership #management #careers #wellbeing

Let's clear up this workplace drama: **your boss isn't your arch-nemesis**. They're more like your co-star in this sitcom called work. Here’s how to keep the peace: - **Punctuality**: Show up on time, unless you want to be the reason everyone's stuck in "The Waiting for Bob" episode. It's basic respect, like not stealing the last slice of pizza. - **Open Dialogue**: Talk to your boss like you're in a rom-com - all charm, no cliffhangers. Unless you enjoy the suspense of "Will they approve my PTO?" - **Problem-Solving Pro**: See a problem? Solve it like you’re on a quest to rescue the company. You might not get a cape, but maybe a raise... or at least a pat on the back. - **Culture Vulture**: Immerse yourself in your company’s culture like you’re binging your favorite show. Live the values, or at least don’t be the one who forgets Taco Tuesday. - **Learning Curve**: Keep learning like you're prepping for the reunion where you want to impress everyone. New skills mean you’re not just surviving; you’re thriving. But if your boss really does give off villain vibes, maybe it's time to switch shows. Until then, let's make work a comedy, not a tragedy. How do you keep things great with your boss? #BossBestie #OfficeComedy #boss

Everyone loves a funny misunderstanding --- in a TV show maybe like Modern Family? Classic misunderstanding, misdirection, and the hilarity that ensues while two different people are heading in the comically opposite direction. In the workplace? Not so funny. How many conflicts in our workplaces—or even in our personal lives—stem from misunderstandings? It’s not usually the big, glaring issues that trip us up. More often, it’s our silent assumptions about someone else’s intentions. It happens in a moment: someone says or does something that feels off, and before you know it, your mind is filling in the blanks. You might assume they’re dismissing your ideas, disregarding your feelings, or intentionally making your life harder. But here’s the truth: most of the time, that’s not what’s happening. Misunderstandings escalate not because of what was said or done but because we stopped communicating and started guessing. Here’s a simple mindset shift to diffuse misunderstandings before they spiral: Assume the best about the other person’s intentions. Instead of assuming they were being dismissive, consider that they might be overwhelmed. Instead of believing they ignored your input, reflect on whether they might have misunderstood or been distracted. Instead of jumping to conclusions, pause and ask a clarifying question. Sometimes, a quick, open conversation can clear the air entirely. Asking a question like, “I want to make sure we’re on the same page—can we talk this through?” brings clarity and strengthens trust. The next time you feel tension rising, take a breath. Assume good intentions and lean into communication. You might be surprised at how quickly conflicts fade when you start with trust and curiosity instead of doubt and assumptions. Have you ever resolved a misunderstanding simply by asking the right question? Share your thoughts below—I’d love to hear! . . . . . #miscommunication #communication #comedy #modernfamily #NationalSpeakersAssociation #speakerlife #speakercoach #WorkplaceDrama #CommunicationMatters #LevelUpYourCareer #corporatespeaker #diggingforgold #buildyourconfidence #reinventyourself

📣 It’s #WorldValuesDay, so here are 10 tips to bring #kindness to life at work! NEW BLOG POST: These are distilled from an in-depth chat I had with Georgia Broome MCIPR about #TheValueOfKindness and leading a team with kindness at its heart. 👉🏻 Read the full post here: https://lnkd.in/es9QE5J5 and let me know what you’d add to the list. 1. Use a team canvas template to co-create shared values with your team 2. Quickly fix the things that will help people feel valued (e.g. reducing workloads, respecting flexible working arrangements and eliminating short term contracts) 3. Role model kindness consistently in your day to day interactions - through words and actions, and sell the benefits of kindness to your peers 4. Create a bubble of psychological safety and practice vulnerability - see failure as something to be expected when you’re pushing to be your best 5. “Clear is kind” - offer timely constructive feedback 6. Reduce external noise and enable flow by encouraging team members to regularly have their ‘out of office’ on while working 7. Champion your team, and agree at what point you’ll step in to defend them 8. Measure team happiness and celebrate success - set up a document to capture and showcase your team’s wins, and include team happiness as a metric in internal client reports 9. Through reward and recognition, reinforce values and achievements 10. Kindness is a choice, lean into it and let it inform your curiosity - the books you read, the podcasts you listen to (and the people you follow on socials 😉) 🌊 If you feel like you’re swimming against the tide, with no power to make a difference, I urge you to read the blog. I guarantee you’ll be inspired by Georgia's vision and determination, and the power of kindness. And if your organisation is looking to identify, develop or embed its values, do drop me a DM. I’d love to know how you’re getting on. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 🫶🏾 Hi, I’m Becs. I help companies create kind cultures, trusted leaders and engaged teams. 💪🏼 I run team workshops and coach managers to see kindness as a strength that delivers powerful results Want to be notified when I post again?
