Highly recommended read! A few points that resonated most: 📌First things first: there is a need to get basic digital infrastructure right 📌So far there is little focus on how AI can improve operational work releasing capacity, promote prevention and help and reshape patient pathways 📌There is a clear need to build skills and capabilities around AI within the NHS to support the use of new tech at scale Great share, Rebecca Pope, Ph.D. (she/her) 🏳️🌈, thanks to you I have witnessed how it works in reality and not on paper. #ai #digitalheqalth #healthcareinnovation

Great read from The Health Foundation & proud to be working in this space...Totally agree that 'An AI in health care strategy must be developed [to] galvanise greater progress on key challenges such as infrastructure, skills and spread' https://lnkd.in/eP2z_XsB #AI #healthcare #trust #workforce #infrastructure #nhs #partnership

The report from the The Tony Blair Institute on preparing the NHS for the AI era focusing on a Digital Health Record for every citizen rightly focusses on - Access - Continuity - Prevention Truly transformative approaches must go beyond digitisation of the status quo. In order to achieve a truly patient and carer needs led digital infrastructure a few things have to be understood: 1. 🏥 We have to accept that, in the main, the current healthcare system is medicalised, paternalistic and serves bricks and mortar physical health infrastructure. 2. ⚖ This means that most of the time Conway's law applies "[O]rganizations which design systems (in the broad sense used here) are constrained to produce designs which are copies of the communication structures of these organizations." — Melvin E. Conway, How Do Committees Invent? 3. 💪 Transformation and true innovation in health technology must therefore address - The biopsychosocial model - Logic of care - Behaviour change - Health inequalities These are all concepts that we have seen as being fundamental to improving health outcomes and optimising system KPIs in digital and traditional services. 🗣 What do you think? https://lnkd.in/ea9_rKNF Alf Collins Helena Traill FRSA Angela Spatharou Dr Saira G. A key focus in Health Insurance and Healthcare is prioritizing patient care (and prevention) over administrative burdens. Our research indicates that AI has the potential to streamline the complex and time-consuming tasks faced by clinic and hospital staff, specifically in areas such as fraud detection, procedure authorization, payments, detection and diagnosis and insurance inquiry interactions. Additionally, it's important to note that the integration of Healthtech solutions in this sector is still lagging behind other industries, surprisingly even slower than finance. For more insights on how we can introduce innovative solutions from other markets into the Asia Pacific region, feel free to get in touch. #healthcare #insurance #healthinsurance #ai #healthtech Claire Yuyao Z. Over the last few months, our team at Sia Partners Health advisory has been crunching the numbers on the scale of AI's opportunity in Australia's private healthcare sector. The results of our analysis are pretty stunning. Australia's private healthcare has many challenges and there is no silver bullet. However, it is clear that 1) productivity improvements have to be a part of the solution, and 2) this new wave of AI powered healthcare solutions can both unlock time-benefits while being less reliant on expensive EMR solutions. Our analysis indicates that savings for Australia’s top seven private hospital groups of $736.5Mpa could be achieved. In the context of a failing private health market, that's hard to ignore. One of the most pleasing aspects of our analysis is that we were able to speak with private healthcare executives in the US market who are further down this path and reaping the rewards. Other regions and other industries are taking advantage of the AI boom. Why not Australia's private healthcare market? I'm keen to understand the views of other leaders in Australia's #healthcare sector. Please reach out so we can continue our learning. Todd M. Digital Health Records are a foundational building block of modern health systems and countries around the world are investing in this vital piece of national infrastructure to ensure their citizens, health systems and economies are ready for the AI era. The UK should do the same. DHRs are a “single source of truth” for each person’s health and well-being status - ingesting data from primary, secondary and community care providers - as well as private providers, remote monitoring and phones - and storing it in a secure environment controlled by the patient. In bringing this data together in one place, patients are better able to manage their own conditions, clinicians are better able to provide safer, more personalised care and systems are better able to allocate funding to have the biggest impact on health The idea of a DHR may not be new - but AI is. The UK should invest in this vital piece of national infrastructure to ensure patients, the NHS and the wider economy are able to benefit from the advantages of (and mitigate the risks of) the AI era in health.
