The Saint Paul Port Authority is proud to announce that we have secured a $636,000 planning grant from the Federal Railroad Administration's Railroad Crossing Elimination (RCE) Program, thanks to the invaluable support from our Minnesota Congressional Delegation. These funds will enable us to study the elimination of an at-grade railroad crossing within our Southport River Terminal, a critical step toward improving safety and mobility for people and goods within the Port of Saint Paul and Mississippi River transportation corridor. We are grateful for the opportunity to advance this important initiative and for the continued support of our elected officials.

#DidYouKnow that Illinois has a network of nearly 10,000 miles of railroad tracks across the state? As a major transportation hub, it’s important for Illinois leaders to consider ways to modernize our rail infrastructure to enhance safety and efficiency for passengers and freight. It’s great to see major investments being made to boost performance for train transportation in Illinois, like the 75th Street Corridor Improvement Project, and we look forward to following its progress. https://lnkd.in/gPSEAgdr

Although there are many critical factors when deciding where to locate your industrial operations, according to CNBC's annual study on state competitiveness, 2024 is the first time #infrastructure is ranked #1. Union Pacific Railroad is helping companies move quickly by providing Focus Sites that decrease uncertainty in connecting to rail and increase speed to market.
Union Pacific Railroad today announced five new Focus Sites, providing businesses additional connections to the railroad’s 32,000-mile network and new opportunities to address their transportation needs. The new sites are in Shawnee, Oklahoma; Cedar City and Grantsville, Utah; and San Antonio and Texarkana, Texas. Combined, they have 15,000 available acres ready for development. https://lnkd.in/g8qDeb7R

#Highspeedrail in #California (and other places) has always been about "harnessing" the faster rail connectivity to transform #regionaleconomies and improve the quality of jobs and economic opportunity in regions. This is especially true for California's dynamic #CentralValley. (See: https://lnkd.in/g5hfbNCE) Exciting to see Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom this week make the explicit connection between #highspeedrail, #economicdevelopment, better #landuse, and station-area development (#TOD). As the Governor said "<High-speed rail> is not just a transportation project this is a transformation project...It is about economic development. It is about creating a sense of place. It is about upzoning around rail....". The Governor also made the link between high speed rail and his signature #CAJobsFirst initiative, demonstrating the importance of priority sectors (e.g. #bioeconomy, #cleanenergy, #advancedmanufacturing) and how #rail can further advance #innovation through faster connections between University of California, Merced, California State University, Fresno, California State University, Bakersfield See more: https://lnkd.in/gGZKxRXD and https://lnkd.in/gGZM38v4 And for anyone who has not been following closely, the Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom and California High-Speed Rail Authority were in Kern County to "celebrate the beginning of the track-laying phase" and to make clear the vision of "a single regional high-speed rail network" connecting the #California system with #LasVegas through a partnership with High Desert Corridor Joint Powers Agency and Brightline West Trains. Thank you Office of California Governor Gavin Newsom for being clear eyed about the challenges of big #infrastructure projects while remaining forward looking and reaffirming your commitment to leveraging #highspeedrail for economic transformation in regions statewide. Allen County was awarded up to $400,000 to evaluate alternatives to improve an at-grade crossing of Norfolk Southern and Scott Road. The initiative, dubbed C.R.O.S.S. (Comprehensive Rail Overpass Safety Strategy) Scott Road Project, will explore the feasibility of a grade separation, which means the construction of an over- or under-pass. The grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Railroad Administration was one of only 6 given to projects in Indiana, out of 123 awarded nationally. At West Contracting, we’re proud to continue that tradition by building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps us all moving. 🚧✨ Check out this reel from Chris West, where he shares a little bit of the history of West Contracting and how we’ve been paving the way (pun intended!) for generations. Let’s celebrate the legacy of roads like Route 66 and the hard work behind every mile! . . . #WestContracting #Route66 #FederalHighwayAct #RoadWorkExperts #PavingTheWay #InfrastructureInnovation
