Did you know that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law includes a $11.3 million grant as part of the Grid Resilience and Innovation Partnerships (GRIP) Program? The GRIP program and support from the IRA provides provide rural electric co-ops with grants, loans and direct-pay tax credits. Utilities throughout the country are using these funds to expand broadband service, pay for renewable energy projects, and strengthen their resilience against natural disasters. With GRIP round 2 application deadlines fast approaching, we're excited to be supporting innovative utilities looking to engage community energy resources for enhanced reliability and affordability. On Wednesday December 11, the Perth community faced significant power outages affecting over 15,000 homes due to high temperatures straining the State’s electricity grid. In response, #PerthMarkets took action to alleviate the strain by switching to generator power. As a result, the markets helped reduce demand on the grid, effectively restoring power to around 900 homes in nearby suburbs! 🔌⚡ This proactive move demonstrated how local initiatives can play a crucial role in managing energy supply during extreme weather events, helping to stabilise the grid and support affected communities. Perth Markets will continue with the #loadshedding program throughout summer, particularly on extremely hot days, to assist the Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) and our community. 🌞 For more information on the Perth Markets load shedding program, contact pmgl@perthmarket.com.au. #summer #communitysupport

RP: City of Houston Newsletter "During severe weather or an emergency, some of Houston's most vulnerable communities need safe places to charge their phones or seek relief from extreme cold or hot temperatures, especially during a power outage. In November, the City Council approved nearly $900,000 to purchase and install a generator at the Kashmere Multi-Service Center, which has struggled to get resources and has been neglected for too long. The investment will significantly enhance the safety and well-being of our community, providing a reliable power source during emergencies. ... Thanks to our partnership with Enchanted Rock Solutions, this is a giant leap in my administration's plan to make #KashmereGarden's Multi-Service Center a resilience hub. My goal is to install generators at some of our other multi-service centers and ensure that all generators at our fire stations are in working condition." #microgrid #solar #resiliencehubs #lilypads Resilient Cities Catalyst Resilient Cities Network Kashmere High School Kashmere Gardens Library Kashmere Gardens Early Learning Story Link Here: https://lnkd.in/ge3-X4PW)

INTERESTING: Now if there was only an LDES solution that had no possibility of thermal runaway. As existing standards and practices fail, locals are taking over and imposing their own standards. This can result in chaos as we experienced in solar when local fire departments started invoking unique standards adding cost and often not making systems safer. Industry needs to step up. Locals taking over in New York and San Diego California. https://lnkd.in/gSihNrRn

https://lnkd.in/g3JanmiT Starting 2025 in the Dark: Could Solar Be Puerto Rico’s Light? As the new year began, 90% of Puerto Rico faced a harsh reality—starting 2025 without electricity. Yet, 117,000 homeowners remained unaffected, because of the help they had from their solar panel systems providing power when the fragile grid failed AGAIN. Puerto Rico’s weak electric grid infrastructure has long been a concern, and experts predict that blackouts will continue to disrupt the island’s residents. For the majority still reliant on the grid, the recent outage was devastating. Meanwhile, those with solar experienced stability and peace of mind, showcasing the potential of renewable energy to protect families in times of crisis. This moment highlights an urgent need for sustainable solutions to counter the island's persistent energy challenges. What’s holding back the widespread adoption of solar energy in Puerto Rico? I’d love to hear your insights—drop your thoughts below! #SolarEnergy #EnergyIndependence #PuertoRicoBlackout #RenewableEnergy #SustainableSolutions
