Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) refers to medical diagnostic testing performed at or near the site of patient care. These tests are designed to provide immediate results, allowing for rapid decision-making regarding patient management. POCT is commonly used in various settings, including hospitals, clinics, emergency departments, and even at home. Examples of POCT include blood glucose monitoring, rapid strep tests, and home pregnancy tests. Key benefits of POCT include: 1. Rapid Results: Immediate feedback allows for quicker clinical decisions. 2. Convenience: Testing can be done at the bedside, in a clinic, or at home. 3. Improved Patient Outcomes: Faster diagnosis and treatment can improve patient outcomes and satisfaction. 4. Reduced Hospital Visits: Certain POCT can be performed outside of traditional healthcare settings, reducing the need for hospital visits. However, POCT also has challenges such as ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the tests, proper training for personnel, and managing the cost of devices and reagents. This presentation is derived from Chapter 30 of the book 'laboratory medicine nader rifai' #TUMS #University_Of_Tehran #Immunochemistry #point_of_care_testing #poct

It is reassuring to see that patients, caregivers and physicians have taken patient engagement in research and clinical trials to the next level. They haven't waited for industry or regulators to tell them how to shape research priorities - they have gone ahead and done it! 🙌 We see real cases of implementation of patient engagement in clinical research in the new bi-monthly September - October Patient Co-Next Research Insights Newsletter. Early patient engagement to shape research priorities in rare disease, respiratory infection, and kidney stone disease. Plus an example of how parent involvement in a pediatric stroke trial enabled better education, recruitment and retention. Having the right complete solution to address this clinical need is essential, and Eurosets provides an innovative technology for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients to ensure the most physiological blood flow. Severe, refractory #heart failure is a highly disabling clinical syndrome characterized by a combination of signs and symptoms resulting from the heart's impaired ability to pump an adequate amount of blood. When conventional treatments fail, the early initiation of Extracorporeal Life Support (ECLS) to assist the heart in pumping blood can be crucial for achieving a favorable patient outcome. It can be frustrating to walk out of a doctor's appointment without a diagnosis or explanation for the symptoms you came in with. It's even more frustrating if it's your child, because you just want them to feel better. Because I practice in the world of pediatric rheumatology where autoimmune diseases can present with so many different types of symptoms, I see many frustrated patients and parents who don't have answers to their symptoms. When this happens, here are a few things to help you get the answers and symptom relief: 1. ➡️💓Keep a clear and concise timeline of the symptoms including things that make them worse or better. You know your child best, so make note of HOW they're acting different from their baseline. 2. ➡️💓Keep track of the work that has already been done. (Labs, imaging, biopsies, other specialists) 3. ➡️💓Look for a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. Keep trying to get answers to your questions. 4. ➡️💓It's hard not to go down the Google rabbit hole, so if you do, remember to try and interpret everything in the context of YOUR child's symptoms. Share your story below, let's connect so you can feel supported through this journey! #kidswithautoimmunedisease #kidswithchronicillness #parentsofsickchildren #parenthacks #parentsofchildrenwithchronicillness #integrativerheumatologist #integrativepediatricrheumatologist #texasdoctors #houston #pedsdoctor #kidshealth #pediatrichealth #pediatricmedicine #pediatricra #pediatricarthritis #pots #supplements #rheumatoidarthritis #chronicpain #chronicpaininkids #kidschronicpain ✅Disclaimer - This is educational info only and not specific medical advice.
