It can be frustrating to walk out of a doctor's appointment without a diagnosis or explanation for the symptoms you came in with. Because I practice in the world of pediatric rheumatology where autoimmune diseases can present with so many different types of symptoms, I see many frustrated patients and parents who don't have answers to their symptoms. When this happens, here are a few things to help you get the answers and symptom relief: 1. ➡️💓Keep a clear and concise timeline of the symptoms including things that make them worse or better. You know your child best, so make note of HOW they're acting different from their baseline. 2. ➡️💓Keep track of the work that has already been done. (Labs, imaging, biopsies, other specialists) 3. ➡️💓Look for a 2nd or even 3rd opinion. Keep trying to get answers to your questions. 4. ➡️💓It's hard not to go down the Google rabbit hole, so if you do, remember to try and interpret everything in the context of YOUR child's symptoms.
