Insightful perspective by the group of Ben Cravatt with first author Xiaoyu Zhang in Nature Chemical Biology. They discuss possible reasons, why expanding the repertoire of E3 ligases for Targeted Protein Degradation (TPD) has converged on a few "frequent hitters" and how additional targetable E3s could be identified. https://lnkd.in/eMbYrmFF

How do our neurons communicate? There’s a lot we still don’t know, but Karishma Bhasne from the Gierasch Lab is one step closer to the answer! Her latest research, published in the Journal of Biological Chemistry, highlights how the Hsc70 and CSPa chaperones prepare the SNAP-25 protein for its role transmitting signals between neurons 🧠🗣 https://lnkd.in/erKF672b

Mass Spectrometry Analysis Sheds Light on Mysterious Marine Debris Recently, The New York Times published a story centered on mysterious blobs found along Placentia Bay, a body of water on the southeast coast of Newfoundland, Canada, and the efforts of chemist Christopher Kozak, part of Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador and Labrador University’s Green Chemistry and Catalysis Group, to identify its makeup and source (2). LCGC International spoke with Kozak about this research and the techniques he and his team used in this research. Link: https://lnkd.in/etQMQ-X5

Thanks! Momentum conservation in general is practically absent in biological communication models. This is no misdemeanor, but a serious violation of nature’s principles (intentionally or not). It hast to be expected that is creates pictures of the mechanisms of life, just as absurd as those created in the absence of energy conservation. Another major milestone for the foundation of a new class of signaling path ways in biology, via sound and not diffusion. https://lnkd.in/eZr42zm4 Lucassen waves in biology are hiding a whole new world of how biology processes information and that too so efficiently.
