Without creative thinking, your startup is doomed to mediocrity. Most entrepreneurs don't feel innovative because they neglect innovation. Here's what you need to do right now: Raise your standards. Creativity is the engine that drives groundbreaking success. If you want your startup to stand out, you need to start thinking differently: ✅Kill The Ego: Keep a low tolerance for all negative behaviors like gossip, complaining, and ego games in your team. Ego is the biggest killer of creativity. ✅Challenge norms: Don’t settle for “the way it’s always been done.” Innovate beyond conventional methods. ✅Foster a creative work culture: Encourage convergent and divergent thinking in your team to experiment and take calculated risks. Consider failures as lessons and learn together instead of criticizing effort. ✅Prioritize problem-solving: Remove "impossible" from the dictionary and adopt the "solution-hacking" mindset. Focus on solving real-world problems with unconventional solutions. ✅Personal projects on the side: Encourage your time to always have their personal side projects to practice autonomy and creativity. ✅Be inspired: Keep a culture of learning from people who have already done it. Lower egos and allow inspiration from the ones who are better. Mediocrity isn’t an option when you’ve got innovation on your side. Ready to boost your startup’s creative edge? Question: How do you approach innovation to create new markets for yourself? Here are seven different ways: 1. Platform Business - Focus: Creating a platform that connects multiple users or participants for mutual benefit. 2. Open Innovation - Focus: Collaborative approach that involves partnering with external parties to generate innovative ideas. 3. Jobs to Be Done - Focus: Understanding the underlying needs and motivations of customers to drive product innovation. 4. Blue Ocean Strategy - Focus: Creating uncontested market space and finding new market opportunities. 5. Design Thinking - Focus: Human-centered approach to problem-solving and innovation. 6. Disruptive Innovation - Focus: Introducing new technologies or business models that disrupt existing markets. 7. Lean Startup - Focus: Emphasizing rapid experimentation, iterative development, and validated learning in startup environments. My perspective: You are better off committing to one or two of these. But if you chase any more of them, you run the risk of unfocused energy. #Innovation #BusinessStrategy #PlatformBusiness #OpenInnovation #JobsToBeDone #BlueOceanStrategy #DesignThinking #DisruptiveInnovation #LeanStartup #Entrepreneurship #ProductDevelopment #MarketCreation #BusinessGrowth #StartupTips #StrategicThinking

This Saturday, January 25th, I had the privilege of attending Ideatza 3.0, a 5-hour immersive workshop organised by the Entrepreneurship Cell at SIMS. The session was an eye-opener, offering invaluable insights into the dynamic world of startups and innovation. Key Lessons Learned: 1. Problem First, Solutions Later Innovation begins with identifying and validating real-world problems. A clear understanding of the problem ensures meaningful and impactful solutions. 2. The Pulse of the Market Constant market research and staying connected with customers are non-negotiable. Tools like TAM, SAM, and SOM simplify market analysis and guide strategic decisions. 3. Adaptability is Survival The ability to pivot or adapt to changing markets, customer needs, and trends is essential for staying relevant and thriving in business. 4. Building for Scale and Impact Scalability is important, but so is sustainability—creating solutions that serve both the market and the environment responsibly. 5. The Design Framework Using the 5 Es—Entice, Entry, Engage, Exit, and Extend—helps craft customer-centric experiences that foster loyalty and retention. 6. Navigating the Valley of Death Understanding the high-risk early phase for startups (18–24 months) and having strategies to overcome it is vital for survival. 7. Financial Foresight Balancing business financials with personal stability is a tightrope every entrepreneur must walk. The session also covered critical topics like sourcing, procurement cycles, and early validation strategies, emphasising the importance of listening to customers and building commercially viable products from the start. I’m deeply grateful to the SIMS Entrepreneurship Cell and Sasi Kumar Sundararajan Sir for curating such a thought-provoking and well-structured program. This workshop has not only broadened my perspective but also strengthened my resolve to approach challenges with creativity, resilience, and a clear purpose. Looking forward to applying these lessons to real-world problems and making an impact! #Entrepreneurship #StartupJourney #Innovation #Ideatza3.0 #SIMSEntrepreneurshipCell #BusinessDevelopment #Scalability #Sustainability #MarketResearch #ProblemSolving #CustomerCentricity #StartupSuccess #GrowthMindset #Leadership #LearningAndGrowing

Imagine turning an intangible idea into a groundbreaking product that adds real value (tangible). Our Brave Fellows experienced that firsthand with The Product Field Framework, led by the brilliant minds of Michael Schieben who co-authored the framework, and Rönke von der Heide from Germany. This session wasn’t just a lesson; it was a transformative leap into structured ideation. Innovation as both a Process and a Result was the least of what they learned. Starting with simple projects like a Lemonade Store, our Fellows learned to take abstract concepts and build them into meaningful businesses. The Product Field empowered them with the tools to Realize and Introduce a journey from idea to value, from thought to action. The Product Field Framework approaches problems clearly, combining insights from Design Thinking and Lean Startup methodology into a cohesive and structured process. Each Fellow not only showcased their creativity but learned to execute ideas with precision, making innovation not just a dream but a picture-perfect reality (literally displayed on a chart). What’s truly groundbreaking about the Product Field isn’t just the framework itself, but how it fosters collaboration, cultivates bold thinking, and challenges you to look at the world differently. It opens your eyes to new opportunities and offers a tangible path forward. This journey with the Product Field has changed how our fellows think and act. It teaches that innovation is about having great ideas and knowing “how” to nurture and bring them to life. Here, creativity meets strategy, and ideas turn into value. #BraveFellows #BraveRedemptive #ProductField #Innovation #CreativeStrategy #DesignThinking #LeanStartup #Entrepreneurship #linkedin
