With only 3% of farms in this country practicing regenerative, organic agriculture, those of us in that small fraction of Earth-focused stewardship need to be recruiting new members, not cloistering ourselves off into clicks. What stands out to me the most about my time in Texas at the National Farmers Union Women's conference that I was invited to speak at recently, is their conscious, purposeful, and warm focus on being inclusive to all types of agricultural practitioners, while clearly having a preference for regenerative agriculture. I made a comment about how interesting and impressive it was to me, because most farming conferences I go to cater specifically and myopically to toxic-chemical-free agriculture and tout that in their programming, messaging, etc, while this one went out of their way to be sure all type of farmers knew they were welcome. A woman responded, "Well, we have to be. How else will an industrial farmer ever know they want to become a sustainable farmer if we cut them out of spaces like this?"
