🥳Today, we celebrate the International Day of #SouthSouthCooperation. This year's theme is "A Better Tomorrow with South-South Cooperation". But what does that mean in practice? Let’s show you an example from our work. 🌉Over 1 billion people live in remote areas without reliable access to essential services like healthcare, education, and markets. These challenges perpetuate the cycle of poverty. 🚧 Unfortunately, government and donor priorities often focus on large road networks and urban areas, leaving remote communities disconnected and underserved. ✔️Drawing on more than five decades of expertise, Helvetas South-South Cooperation Unit has been constructing and scaling vital infrastructure that links remote communities and ends rural isolation. 🔭 Our vision? A future where every person, no matter how remote their community, has access to the services and markets they need to thrive. The Power of #IMPACT! Today was very empowering for Impact Sierra Leone as I had the honor of being a panelist with other members of Global Goodwill Ambassadors Foundation (GGAF) to discuss ways to address the issue of #GenderBasedViolence (GBV). As part of the #16daysofactivism, this was an amazing way to use our #voices to Impact! We all can do our part to eliminate #GBV in the world through Advocacy, Awareness, Activities and taking #ACTION! Increasing women’s and girls’ educational attainment contributes to women’s economic empowerment and more inclusive, environmentally sustainable economic growth. Education, upskilling, and re-skilling—especially to keep pace with rapid technological transformations affecting jobs—are critical for women’s and girls’ health and wellbeing, as well as their income-generation opportunities and participation in the formal labour market. ISL is using #CapacityBuilding as an approach to #GBV. Our aim is to empower women farmers and the community by building a Vocational Training Center so they can learn marketable skills and become #womanpreneurs. Lets all Do Our Part! We're at Reform Think Tank's ‘Reimagining the Local State’ conference today, hearing from our Chair Kersten England CBE about how community collaboration and new approaches to devolution are shaping the future of local governance.   Speaking on a panel with Simon Kaye, Tom Hunt, Sarah Calkin, and Jo Johnston, Kersten highlighted the need to create conditions that enable communities and local agencies to unlock their creativity and innovation. That's key to tackling the root causes of today’s challenges and driving social change, she said, emphasising the need for a social contract that:    🧱 builds common cause between people and communities 🧠 taps into collective wisdom, and  🤝 redefines citizenship with a focus on participatory democracy.   👏 👏 👏 #Communities #Devolution #LocalGovernance
