What makes a child with special needs, disabled? A society with limited vision! One day, a child with autism, Mehul (name changed) was unable to stand still in the school assembly & the school decided to teach him a lesson so that he learns to obey the school rules & stand straight at one place. Guess what did the school do - A. A teacher stood next to the child & kept him engaged so that he didn't make big movements in the school assembly. B. Let the child roam around, may be because he was anxious & needed movement. C. Make social stories about the expected behaviour during school assembly. D. Send the child back home and withdraw him from school trips. I sometimes wonder about the objective of punishment given to our children with special needs for their behaviour. Does anyone try to understand the need behind their so-called inappropriate behaviour? Does the need for punishment weigh more than the child's opportunity to learn at school? Think about the objective of child's behaviour and see how to create a win-win with the child instead of using fear treatment to get your needs met. Anyway, our children have limited years of social life because most children with special needs are restricted to their homes once they finish schooling. Please be a little visionary in the steps we take in shaping the lives of our children. #autism #awareness #visionary #society #fearful #schoolassembly

📢 Inclusion starts with access to education. For many kids on the autism spectrum, that access isn’t always guaranteed, and the challenges they face can feel overwhelming. But what if every door opened wide for them? 💼📚 And that includes Libraries where some books are being banned. As we advocate for expanded support through IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), we’re asking: Are we doing enough? Are the policies in place creating real opportunities for every child? Whether you're a parent, an educator, or an advocate, let’s talk about how access to education has shaped the journey for your children or students. Together, we can make a difference. 🌟 #InclusionMatters #Neurodiversity #EducationalEquity #AutismAdvocacy #SpecialEducation #InclusiveLearning #IDEA #CommunitySupport

💡 Learning from Children: Addressing Gaps in Special Needs Education 💡 While conducting our recent puppet show, I learned an invaluable lesson. Although the children actively participated and enjoyed the experience, I realized that we hadn’t catered for those with special needs. There were children present with disabilities, including one who was autistic, and while they interacted by touching the puppets, I don’t believe we fully supported their learning. It was a moment of deep reflection for me — knowing that children with disabilities are at an even higher risk of abuse, yet we hadn’t developed something that speaks directly to them. 💭 What Next?: This experience is a call to action. How can we design inclusive safety programs that reach every child? We need to ensure that children with special needs are not left behind, and that we create environments where they can learn, understand, and express themselves in ways that are accessible to them. I would love to hear any ideas or suggestions on how we can better serve this often-overlooked group. Let’s work together to make sure all children are empowered and safe. #ChildAbuseAwareness #SpecialNeeds #Inclusivity #DisabilityAdvocacy #InclusiveLearning #BeIntentional #ChildSafety

Have you HEARD of Section 504 for your child? If they are neurodiverse, have a diagnosis, or need school-based support, you need to WATCH my latest tutorial... The truth is. 🔽 Section 504 applies to pre-k through post-secondary institutions AND you and your child have a ton of rights and protections under this Civil Rights Statute. The problem is... most schools, teachers, and staff don't get consistent training on WHAT IS a 504 Plan and how it can benefit and protect students with actual OR perceived disabilities in school and in college. Yep, 504 protections apply EVEN if your child heads to a university after high school. Even if your child or student DOESN'T have a 504 Plan, you NEED to watch this video to educate yourself on what a 504 IS and how it can help them THRIVE! While we're halfway through Learning Disability Week, there's still time to get involved! Here are some ways early childhood educators can show their support: 💡 Educate yourself: Learn more about common learning disabilities like dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. Understanding these challenges can help you create a more inclusive learning environment. 💡 Spark conversations: Talk to your colleagues and parents about Learning Disability Week and the "Do you see me?" theme. 💡 Celebrate strengths: Focus on the unique abilities of each child. Children with learning disabilities often excel in creativity, problem-solving, or visual-spatial skills. Celebrate these strengths and build confidence! 💡 Adapt and individualise: Every child learns differently. Consider using different teaching methods, assistive technologies or providing extra time for tasks. Together, we can create a world where all children feel seen, heard, and valued! #OnRatio #LearningDisabilityWeek #ECE #inclusion #earlychildhoodeducation

Personalized Learning: A New Approach for Children with Intellectual Disabilities In Project Management, if something isn't working well or there are more efficient ways to achieve a goal, it's essential to implement necessary changes. I am happy to have contributed to the development of a new curriculum and to take the lead in its rollout at our Community Care Center for Children with Intellectual Disabilities and their caregivers. This change aims to better respond to the unique needs of each child, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach. Each child's intellectual disability condition differs, and it was crucial to tailor our methods to their specific needs. To make this change happen, we dedicated a significant amount of time to research, engagement, and training staff on its implementation. This effort ensured that we are fully equipped to provide the best possible care and education for children with intellectual disability.
