ADHDers and procrastinators! I got you in today's mini work therapy chat. Have a watch, and see if you can put the Zeigarnik Effect (https://lnkd.in/evpBRwWp) into action to move you through getting something /done/.
The most transformational advice I was given (and now follow) is that if a task is going to take less than 2 minutes, don't allow your brain to plan doing it, just do it. I now can't make a cup of tea in the morning without emptying the dishwasher as I don't give myself the excuse to do it later (as one of many examples)
sounds like the Pomodoro Technique might take advantage of this though hadn't heard of just writing the first sentence, that's genius!
Great advice and one I often do in EXACTLY that situation, Thayer. Sketch out a framework of an email/make brew/finish it. Feel good. It does mean my tea and coffee bill goes through the roof, but it does work!
This is really useful advice and something I’ve been sort of doing for quite a while without realising it had a name. Thanks, Thayer.
🙋♂️Are you deliberately trying to write about me here Thayer Prime 😂
Really helpful, thanks! I struggle *massively* with this.
I think I do this a lot too. Not quite sure how to finish the 1000s of things I’ve started yet, but one day 😂
