You are just fine. Your real life stories are perfect. Nobody cares about your made-up perfect life. Nobody believes your body is flawless. To make millions in record time without a word... really... I mean, granted: I am amazed at what people seem to believe. I am amazed at what people take for truth without even questioning it. The reason is that they are told what they want to hear. "Elena Selensky spends €1 million of charity money on Cartier jewellery in New York." This story got so much attention. But it's ridiculous. But it serves a certain audience. So why question it? But are those the people you want to reach? If you want to promote a legitimate idea, project or business, telling your true story is the best long-term strategy. 𝐓𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐉𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐃𝐢𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 When philanthropy and luxury jewellery meet, it’s magic—and a memorable way to connect with a meaningful cause. Since 2016, Pauline Wong Jewellery (PWJ) has woven philanthropy into its brand DNA, raising awareness and funds for charitable causes. For years, I’ve drawn on my tech sector marketing and PR expertise to support my mother's jewellery brand through engaging customer experiences. Our next London event will feature an exclusive auction of a one-of-a-kind PWJ Chameleon necklace, plus a raffle with prizes including PWJ gift cards and designer items, all aimed to build connections and deepen support for our chosen charity. Over the years, we’ve seen the benefit of having auctions and high-value raffles to enhance guest involvement without losing sight of what matters: the charitable cause. These experiences create excitement but also help build personal connections with PWJ, adding a philanthropic purpose to each event. Here are 3 tips if you’re planning similar experiences: 1. Showcase one unique, high-value item connected to your brand story to foster exclusivity. 2. Select prizes that resonate with your audience and align with your brand values. 3. Create a warm, inviting atmosphere that encourages genuine connections with your cause. As we prepare for our next PWJ event, we’re more excited than ever to bring these experiences to life. How do you engage your event attendees while staying true to your brand? Follow me for more insights blending my passions with purpose. #LuxuryForACause #PhilanthropyInJewelry #PaulineWongJewellery

Can you help ?
Can you help? 🙏 After 18 months of working on my small business I'm ready to expand further. To do this I need some extra space to launch new product ranges and fulfill bigger orders for stockists worldwide. 🌍 If every one of my connections on my LinkedIn donated £1.50 each I would have more than enough to rent an artists studio for 12 months so I thought it was worth a shot! 🤷♀️ Anything you can contribute, however small, would be much appreciated to help me follow my dream. This week I had the pleasure of giving a lecture at the Arts University Arts Management course on Fundraising and Sponsorship. I aimed to share some experiences and insights I've had during my years in different arts organizations - and to give another viewpoint, it's great that Liisa Eerola will share her experiences from the companies’ perspective next week. I was really happy and encouraged by the vivid, curious and critical questions and discussion together with the students. It's not easy sum up such a vast topic as fund raising for arts institutions. Some personal learnings I had gathered together as bullet points for my last slide: • It’s about people. It’s about art. It’s never about money. • Build on your values • Be real, connect, build trust • Ask others for help. Search for allies • Think big • Create something new • Make a difference. Ask yourself: why is this important?

Achieving goals is not a simple linear progression, and success doesn't always look the way you expect it to. When Kaleido Arts' crowdfunder campaign closed on the 19th August with £2,418, I was surprised by the celebratory emails Crowdfunder were sending out, given that our goal was £18k! Of course, it was not an all or nothing campaign (I've done that before with a book crowdfunder and those are nerve wracking) and we were able to take home anything donated. One thing I've learnt is the importance of reframing missed goals as opportunities and small successes: 1. We've increased our visibility as an organisation. 2. The fact that 37 people have supported us in this way is an indication that people recognise the value of what we're doing. 3. Although we're not in a position to hire the Quaker Meeting House yet, they are still open to us moving in at a later stage. 4. We have discovered an alternative venue - The Gardener's Rest in Neepsend - and are running our autumn workshops there for free! Those guys have given us such favour and I can't wait to work with them.

Fundraising is hard! This week I'm sharing top tips for writing grant applications on the Artichoke blog. It would be great to hear from the grant-makers, trusts and foundations in my network. What would be your advice to prospective applicants? What are the main do’s and don’ts? · Do your research – read the guidelines carefully and only apply if your project meets the criteria · Prioritise – you won’t be able to apply for every opportunity · Leave enough time – check how often trustees meet · Be prepared – look at all the questions before you start writing · Tailor your application – reflect the funder’s interests and priorities · Have a clear structure – tell a story from beginning to end · Learn to love budgets - another way to tell your story in numbers · Be realistic about your costs and potential to raise match funding · Rejection is ok, keep trying – today's fundraising landscape is extremely competitive. Try not to be discouraged and keep applying for opportunities! Check out the full article on the Artichoke blog below.
“Grant funding is essential to the arts today.” — Emily Turner, Head of Trusts & Foundations at Artichoke. We recently caught up with Emily, who has worked at Artichoke since 2017, to find out how to put together successful funding applications. ✍️ In our latest blog, she reveals where you can find #fundingopportunities, her top tips for #grantapplications and how to handle rejection. 📝 Read the full article via 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓐𝓻𝓽 𝓸𝓯 𝓘𝓽 𝓑𝓵𝓸𝓰 - https://lnkd.in/eAP7YD2h Photo: Great Fire of London schools workshop, 2016.
