'My Grandmother's Hands' I've just finsihed reading "My Grandmother's Hands" by Resmaa Menakem. I felt it was a game-changer. It delves into how trauma lives in our bodies, impacting generations, especially in Black communities. The book's focus on somatic practices offers powerful tools for entrepreneurs and leaders to foster healing and create compassionate business cultures. Key takeaways for me, as a Systems Business Coach®, and my professional growth: 1. Embrace somatic awareness in leadership: Recognise how stress manifests physically to enhance emotional intelligence and decision-making. 2. Create trauma-informed workspaces: Understand the impact of historical trauma and build supportive environments that nurture loyalty and innovation. 3. Prioritise healing-centered leadership: Promote mindfulness and open conversations about mental well-being to address systemic stressors. Working with clients through developing awareness exercises and techniques, helps to recognise physical stress signals. Together, we develop strategies to use these bodily cues for more authentic, emotionally intelligent leadership. If you're feeling called to explore a more heart-centered approach to leadership, let's connect. Your journey matters, and I'd be up for working to support you on that journey. Loved hanging out with this group today. A bunch of intelligent leaders, looking to expand, grow and create greatness for themselves and the members of their teams. Today we uncovered the third module of The Ripple Effect: Leadership Psychology Program and learnt and discussed the element of Social Psychology. What that looks like, how that affects teams and how we can influence it to enhance connection, relationships, performance and culture. We got to learn who were the Yanny's, the Laurel's and the Yeah's of the group when exploring how different our perceptions can be, even when we are exposed to the same experience (or in this instance, the same sound waves). And in true Nome's style, we also sprinkled in a tiny bit of energy science to compliment the psychology elements being shared. So far we have covered Workplace Psychological Safety and the Psychology Behind Individuals Behaviours. These first three modules lay a strong foundation for the remaining modules yet to come but are only the tip of the iceberg on what we get to explore, uncover and delve into throughout this program. And, I can't wait to continue doing that with this amazing group. Reminder: if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room. You've heard the phrase, "you are the sum of the 5 people you surround yourself with" well, here's my twist on it. That also means that being the smartest person in the room limits your potential. Placing yourself within the right circle of influence subconsciously forces you to raise the bar, helping you to set new, elevated expectations of yourself. Not sure how to create that community to foster your growth? Start by creating your own inner community! This is one of the most empowering tools I've used with clients who don't have a community in place. Create an “imaginary advisory board” with whom you consult and who share how they would overcome obstacles you might be facing. Here's how: sit down and create a list of 5-7 people - it can be anyone, alive or dead, real or fictional, world renowned or average joe. What's important is that you look up to them and are inspired by them. Go inside and invite them to an inner board room then regularly engaging with them. Ask them for ideas, support or how they would handle a situation. This practice not only fosters a nurturing environment, bolsters growth and silences self-doubt, it provides potent, real world answers. The #1 leadership skill no one talks about isn’t charisma or vision—it’s emotional resilience. Here’s why it matters in 2024 and beyond: Life is not a straight line. We all get knocked down in life, and it doesn’t matter how skilled you are—without the mental fortitude and resilience to rise every time you fall, you won’t make it. That’s the universal truth. I’ve been knocked down more times than I care to remember, but I refuse to stay down. Emotional resilience is a muscle I’ve built over time, and it has carried me through my toughest challenges. This holiday season, I encourage you to gift yourself—or someone you care about—my book, SAFAR: An Immigrant Journey of Life and Leadership. It’s a guide to building that unbeatable mindset, drawing from lessons I’ve learned the hard way. Do you agree emotional resilience is more important than technical skills? Why or why not? ----- ♻ Share to support your network 👍 Comment with your thoughts ➕ Follow Ravi Prakash Get a copy of my book, Safar: An Immigrant Journey of Life and Leadership https://lnkd.in/eVjfVqrc

For me as a leader, mentor, coach - call me what you will - everyday is RUOK DAY. Celebrating the day nationally is important to raise awareness around mental health, but the people who look up to us and who reach out to us for guidance, demand and yes deserve more. That’s why within our ASPIRE Program everyday matters. Constantly connecting with people, asking the hard questions and most importantly, being available, is a given. We don’t hide behind emails. And we NEVER ever complain about being busy. When I’ve run complex companies, no one mattered more to me than our people. So I developed ASPIRE for two reasons: 1. To see exceptional leaders do what I could never achieve, and; 2. Change lives. 🙏

I get it.... The way we find ourselves overthinking every detail, anticipating the unknown until we know it. I get it..... I am in this very hour (1:44am CST), overprocessing my plan for the week. It happens every Sunday for the past 24 years. Pressure. If you’re anything like me—a recovering perfectionist—you know the struggle of trying to get everything just right. But here’s the thing: perfectionism can hold us back from truly growing, especially when it comes to building emotional intelligence. Perfectionism isn’t just about high standards; it’s about fear—fear of failure, fear of success, fear of judgment, fear of not being enough, fear of not knowing enough, even fear of having too much.... But guess what? #Emotionalintelligence is all about embracing our imperfections, understanding our emotions, and using that #awareness to connect with others in a more authentic way. When we let go of the need to be perfect, we open ourselves up to real growth. We become better listeners, more #empathetic leaders, and stronger collaborators. By allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, we create space for true #connection and #personaldevelopment. Hey peacemaker, are you ready to take the first step? 📈 Here’s a simple challenge: the next time you catch yourself aiming for perfection, pause and ask, “What am I afraid of?” Then, give yourself permission to be human. Write it down, vlog it, whatever you need to do, just get it out. Next, share your journey in the comments below—let’s support each other in building emotional intelligence one step and one comment at a time. Recently, I've been exploring the concept of emotional intelligence and it’s significance, both personally and in business. As a leader, self-awareness and recognition are crucial skills to cultivate. - “Emotional intelligence is about your ability to understand, manage and express your emotions- as well as recognize and influence the emotions of those around you.” I’ve always thought of myself as an introvert and empath. Introverts are quite often great listeners and empathetic to others thoughts and feelings. Which are two major components of emotional intelligence. Being a leader isn’t only about yourself, but rather about the people you are leading. During my journey in developing my leadership approach as a young entrepreneur I found that my style is flexible and adaptable, tailored to the specific needs of those I lead. My primary focus remains on fostering an environment where individuals feel free to express themselves authentically. -I may not be the loudest in the room, but my mind is always full of buzzing and ideas💡

I am truthfully reaching a bit of a TIPPING POINT… That’s what she wrote to me. Her position… … one she had worked DECADES to ACHIEVE was no longer bringing her joy. MONEY, yes! Joy, no. She continued…. And so, I’m really thinking hard about HOW I want to SHIFT and do a lot more of what does bring me JOY. Some days, we CHOOSE a kind of work ✅ to cover expenses, ✅ to CONTRIBUTE to our family, ✅ to avoid DEPLETING savings, ✅ to meet EXPECTATIONS of others, and at some point, we reach that TIPPING POINT. Many are answering a clarion call deep inside…. to take ALL their EXPERTISE gained over DECADES and APPLY it to something NEW that generates JOY and SOULFUL SATISFACTION ... as well as MONEY. As leaders, we are bringing all of those CHERISHED elements into HARMONY and BALANCE. 💖 I see many leading with MORE HEART and CURIOSITY and NOT just CHASING the trail of dollars. I support dozens of TALENTED, ACCOMPLISHED, highly CONSCIOUS creators who are leading a SEISMIC shift toward a more enlightened form of LEADERSHIP where SPIRITUAL and FINANCIAL abundance are in BALANCE.
