Understanding the Bandwagon Effect: Why Do We Follow Trends? Have you ever noticed how quickly viral challenges or trends spread on platforms like TikTok or Instagram? Even people who don’t fully enjoy or understand the trend jump on board. This is a perfect example of the bandwagon effect. The bandwagon effect happens when people adopt behaviors or ideas simply because others are doing the same. It’s driven by social pressure and a desire to fit in. In the case of viral trends, FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) often pushes people to participate, even if they wouldn’t normally engage in such activities. Similarly, Many designers feel pressure to implement the latest trends for fear of falling behind or being seen as outdated. But here's the challenge: good design is not about what's trendy, it's about what's functional and user-centered. Following trends blindly can result in poor usability, confusing interfaces, or features that don't solve real user problems. As designers, it’s essential to: ✨ Test if the trend enhances the user journey. ✨ Consider if it aligns with the needs of your users. ✨ Prioritize user feedback over design trends. Ultimately, a great user experience isn’t about keeping up with design fads, it’s about solving problems effectively. Have you ever felt the pull of design trends in your work? How do you balance trends with usability? Let’s discuss below!👇 #UXDesign #BandwagonEffect #UserExperience #DesignTrends #UIUX #Psychology #BehavioralEconomics #SocialTrends

14% to 30% increase in engagement rate with this redesign Here’s how I did: • Replaced vague 5-star ratings with adding 2k+ verified reviews to build trust. • Added a “This Course is For You” section to resonate with user challenges. • Simplified text-heavy content into scannable benefits like “better sleep.” • Introduced a one-click schedule download for added convenience. The results: • 14% to 30% increase in engagement, with users scrolling to the bottom. • 3% boost in sales. • 15% increase in free audio downloads. Why it worked: • Trust-Building: Verified reviews establish instant credibility. • Actionable Nudges: Features like schedule downloads encourage engagement. • Reciprocity Principle: Freebies create curiosity and drive user interaction. - User-Centric Design: Relatable sections enhance emotional connection. • Simplicity & Clarity: Scannable content reduces mental effort. Day 6 of my 21-days LinkedIn challenge with MWG ✨"User Research: The Art of Empathy in Design!"✨ Research is the art of UX design—it’s not just about understanding users, but truly empathizing with them, creating solutions that resonate with real needs and honor diversity. It’s about empathy with equity, focusing on designs that meet users where they are, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach. As a philosophy student, I’ve come to see research as more than an academic task. It’s a method of rational inquiry, one that’s both global and grounded, diving into users' needs, pain points, and behaviors. This approach has deepened my commitment to research that connects with users on a meaningful level. 🌟Reveals Real User Needs: Research goes beyond assumptions to uncover what users actually need and expect, so we can create designs that truly serve. 🌟Inspires Innovation: It’s in user insights that we find inspiration for fresh ideas, uncovering new ways to solve problems and enhance the experience. 🌟Reduces Risk of Failure: Knowing the users’ preferences from the start means fewer design revisions down the line, saving time, resources, and effort. In a project I’m about to dive in, designing a website for selling perfumes, I asked myself, “What’s the story behind the scents users choose?” This question led to in-depth research, revealing that users valued easy navigation, scent descriptions, and reviews. This insight gave me an idea about the layout, by adding a seamless flow to help users find their signature scent with ease. How has user research shaped your projects? Share your stories—I’d love to learn from your experiences! #MentorshipWithGoodness #21dayschallenge #productdesign #UXResearch

👶 Parenting & UX Design Parallels: Learning from a 3-Year-Old! 🚦 The other day, my daughter and I went for a casual evening walk around the neighborhood. She’s currently learning about traffic lights at school, so she’s been fascinated with how they work. And then came this moment that made me both laugh and think… 🤔 Every time we passed by a medical shop with a red cross light, she would stop dead in her tracks. 🛑 The signs would light up, turn off briefly, and light up again. But as long as the red cross was on, she wouldn’t budge! Why? Because in her mind, red means stop, no questions asked! 🚦 It hit me right then—how powerful visual cues are in shaping behavior, even for a 3-year-old. Kids learn fast, but so much of what they absorb is based on the signals we, as designers, put out there. 🖌️ Are we using colors and symbols intentionally in our designs, or have we become so used to them that we forget their impact? 🤷♂️ As proud as I am of my little one, it’s also a great reminder to rethink how we design experiences that influence behavior. 👉 What’s been your experience with color and UX design? How do you use it to guide user actions? I’d love to hear your thoughts! #UXDesign #ParentingLessons #DesignInspiration #ColorPsychology #UserExperience #ProudParentMoment

A few days ago, I shared about my struggles with putting myself out there as an introvert. Lately, I've realized that I don't have to change who I am to tell my story. Instead, I've focused on improving my skills and building more confidence in my work. With this newfound focus, I poured my creativity and personality into building my design portfolio. This became a powerful tool for me to tell my story in a way that felt genuine and comfortable. Here is the link to my case study🔗https://lnkd.in/dmGGqMr9 I share this journey because I know there are many introverts like me who struggle with self-promotion. It's important to remember that you don't have to become someone you're not. Building a portfolio can be an exciting process, but it's also perfectly normal to experience moments of anxiety. What truly matters is taking that step and staying committed. Be proud of yourself for every effort you make, regardless of the outcome. Putting yourself out there, even if it feels uncomfortable, is a testament to your courage and determination. Let's connect! My name is Taofeek Iyiola a Brand and Product Designer who helps bridge the gap between brand vision and user experience. 🌟 The Power of Empathy in Design: Connecting with Users on a Deeper Level! 💬 Have you ever stopped to think about how users genuinely feel when they interact with your design? 🤔 Empathy is the heart of good design; it allows us to step into the shoes of our users, to understand their emotions, frustrations, and joys. When we actively listen and observe, we can create experiences that resonate and truly meet their needs. 🌼 ✨ Designing with empathy means considering not just what users do, but how they feel in each moment. This insight can transform ordinary interactions into meaningful connections, fostering loyalty and trust. It's like writing a heartfelt letter instead of a bland email—one just feels more sincere! 💌 🙅♂️ On the flip side, neglecting empathy can lead to designs that alienate users. Think about error messages that blame the user instead of guiding them, or interfaces that don’t accommodate diverse user needs. This can result in frustration and disengagement, making users feel as if they're just numbers on a screen. 😞 🔑 The takeaway? Make empathy your design compass! Engage with your users, understand their pain points, and create experiences that don’t just serve purposes but touch hearts. 🌎 What steps do you take to incorporate empathy into your design process? Share your thoughts below! 👇 #UIUXDesign #DesignTips #UserExperience #ProductDesign #EmpathyInDesign

The Psychology Behind Great UI/UX Design. Key Principles: ✔ Cognitive Load: Simplify layouts and break information into chunks. ✔ Visual Hierarchy: Use size and color to highlight important elements. ✔ Gestalt Principles: Group related items and ensure clear element distinction. ✔ Emotional Design: Create pleasing visuals and address pain points. ✔ Hick’s Law: Limit choices and reveal information progressively. ✔ Fitts’s Law: Make buttons larger and place key actions accessibly. ✔ User Feedback: Provide instant feedback and prevent errors.
