Do you know much your businesses produces in CO2e emissions? I recently attended the "How to tell your Sustainability Story" event hosted by the ever-knowledgable and inspirational Alex Pearson using the Small99 Carbon Reduction Action Box (CRAB). I became certified Carbon Literate a decade ago but it for sure pays to keep learning. In the spirit of transparency, here are the results for my business: https://lnkd.in/edNDHeSf Have your examined your emissions yet? As we near the end of the year and a natural time for pause and reflection, I am writing my business and personal goals for next year. One I hope to achieve before then is to move the rest of my personal banking to ethical banking providers, likely - Triodos. Using the CRAB, it was a stark reminder just how much of an impact decisions about who we bank with make. My business name wasn't just because I like the sound of the word. I'm a human being first and business owner second which means I am not perfect. But I strive every day in my work to conduct my business in line with my professional and personal values. I definitely don't always get it right and I may not always make the progress I wish for, but I keep trying. And when it comes to regenerating and protecting the world we live in and operating in ways that are right for people and planet, it's the small actions we take that make all the difference. My ten minute latest talk on ancient wisdom, modern science, and sustainable development of one as an organization, i.e., of you This is the purpose (management message) - what needs to be sustained is space for you to grow and for you to realize the contributions of all who have helped you be who you are, before you becoming guiding light for others (go green). Else, you can't ensure your sustainable development as an organization of one - you always will be in fear what if other copy your idea and go ahead of you :) After all, others are organizers of many ones, you are just one, so powerless due to their sheer power unless you have raised your power to a level no one can challenge. How to manage organization of one, that is you, so that you can guide others how to be the organizers of many ones. The intent is create a local impact on one who is listening attentively as audience - so that it is worth return on time investment for everyone present.

#FutureofWork #BehaviouralEconomics #LeadershipDevelopment Recently I saw this research video (link below) and felt compelled to draw coaching insights about our thinking and how scarcity of water shapes our values, and in turn future of the geography we come from: https://lnkd.in/grZ9q_HT , Credit to The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, University of Chicago for this insightful research. 1) Cultural and Environmental Influence: People's attitudes towards delayed gratification and long-term planning are deeply influenced by the resources available in their environment. For example, water scarcity fosters future-oriented thinking, while abundance encourages present-focused living. 2) Adaptability and Awareness: Just as cultures adapt to their environments, individuals can develop awareness of how their surroundings shape their mindset. Coaches can help clients recognize and adjust their tendencies, balancing long-term planning with present enjoyment based on their goals. 3) Resource Framing for Mindset Shifts: The research shows that even subtle reminders of resource scarcity or abundance (e.g., articles about water scarcity) can shift people's orientation toward the future or present. Coaches can leverage this by using reframing techniques to help clients adopt a mindset conducive to their objectives. 4) Diverse Responses to Scarcity: Scarcity affects different resources (e.g., water vs. money) in unique ways. While financial scarcity often pushes people into short-term thinking, water scarcity encourages long-term planning. Coaches can explore with clients how perceived scarcities in their lives influence decision-making and help them approach challenges with intentional strategies. 5) Opportunities in Adversity: The natural tendency to adopt long-term thinking during resource challenges, like water scarcity, can be harnessed to inspire hope and strategic planning in difficult situations. This mindset can help clients navigate challenges such as climate change or economic uncertainties. 6) Practical Application for Teams and Leaders: Coaches working with organizations can use these insights to foster long-term strategic thinking, especially in industries or teams facing resource limitations. Tailored exercises, like envisioning future resource scenarios, can promote resilience and innovation. By understanding how deeply-rooted cultural and environmental factors influence decision-making, coaches can help clients build self-awareness, adaptability, and strategic thinking for personal and professional growth.

A coach playing a role in the client's sustainability decisions? Yes, indeed. And it is not about the technical knowledge on reporting, CO2 assessments, measurements of footprint. It's about something coaches have been doing for a while - the mindset. The Sustainability Mindset is however a particular way of thinking and being, that has a direct impact on the imagination, on the way we analyze and make decisions. Learn how to be a change accelerator, developing your coaching skills to foster the sustainability mindset. Check out the new program, starting next week.

You’re not failing, the strategies you’ve been trying to apply are failing you. Ultimately, the more a system is customised to you and your life, the more likely you are to stick to it. It needs to consider your goals. It needs to consider your limitations. It needs to consider where you're starting from, your preferences and your life commitments. Our goal is to find the path of least resistance, tweak your existing habits, and solidify them as new, sustainable practices. Essentially, it's about embracing a new way of operating, one that I believe is within your reach. And that's why in my new group program, I’m not only teaching the methodology, but helping you apply it to YOUR life. Designed especially for the needs of busy professionals and business owners. We start on the 30th of May and there are TWO spots left. DM me for the details. #PerformanceDietitian Sustainable #HighPerformance #ReclaimYourEnergy

Persuasian or process? What gets the job done? ✅ In our endeavours to transform organisations towards sustainability, should we rely on rhetoric or rules to drive that change? https://lnkd.in/g9DVEN8M Take a look at my latest feeble "implementation of my pre-meditated orchestration of demotic Anglo-Saxon" and let me know what you think in the comments. 😕 #Inspire #Inform #Systemsthinking

In a world that often craves simple answers, we sometimes lose sight of the complexity inherent in the challenges we face. From global crises to local issues, the temptation to oversimplify can lead to solutions that miss the mark, overlook critical details, or even make matters worse. Through personal experience, I have borne witness to the dangers of avoiding complexity and the misuse of simplicity as a guiding principle. Learning from real-world examples, there is a strong argument to be made for the importance of embracing complexity to develop more effective, sustainable solutions.
