As Head of People and a natural-born people pleaser, I’ll admit it’s not always easy to hear negativity or face setbacks. But I truly believe that small, meaningful actions, when done with good intentions, can have a profound impact. I encourage my team to focus on those “little bits of good” - whether it’s supporting a colleague, offering a kind word, or tackling a task with care and purpose. When we all show up with positivity and intention, those small acts accumulate into something far greater than we could imagine. Don’t underestimate the power of the good you do. You may not always see the immediate impact, but it matters. Let’s keep building a world where kindness and compassion prevail - one small action at a time. This week I was interviewed by a college sophomore, and the conversation focused on the lessons I’ve learned in my career and advice I’d give to a student entering the post-academic world. Above all else, and the one thing I wanted her to take away from our conversation, is to understand who you are as a person. Not as a professional, not as a marketer, not as a salesman. Truly understand you - your values - and what you want to be known for as your real-world legacy begins. Early on in my career I tried to fit the mold, be the “girl boss” (because it’s soo different from being a boy boss) with the attire and attitude, and societies weight of what was expected of me on my shoulders. After a decade I realized, BS. While I succeeded, it left me unmotivated, unappreciated, and quite frankly friggen frustrated. It wasn’t until I found leadership who brought the best out of me, challenged me, championed me, and most importantly trusted me to be the professional they knew I was, that it finally clicked in my head: mediocrity doesn’t demand a seat at the table, conviction does. If you find yourself in a room where your voice is stifled, your ideas unheard, and your creativity muffled, you aren’t even in the right house. Your career will last for decades on decades, and while the temptation to be perfect off the bat is fierce, the play of strategic longevity is – without showing my ageist need to be relevant - the vibe. Be novel. Be smart. Be proud. Be authentic. Be unique. Be off-kiltered. Bear conviction. And above all else, be you.

The best advice for being yourself and not caring what others think is this……. • Know Your Worth: Your value isn’t determined by someone else’s opinions. Focus on your strengths, passions, and the things that make you uniquely you. • Stay Authentic: Pretending to be someone else to fit in will only exhaust you. The people who truly matter will love you for who you are, not who you pretend to be. • Control Your Inner Dialogue: What you tell yourself matters more than what others say. Be your own biggest cheerleader, not your harshest critic. • Remember People’s Opinions are Temporary: Most of the time, people are too focused on themselves to judge you deeply. Even when they do, their thoughts are fleeting. • Choose Freedom Over Approval: Living authentically brings freedom and peace. Trying to please everyone is a never-ending, exhausting task. Ultimately, life is too short to let someone else’s opinion dictate your happiness.
