Recognizing the Importance of Early Detection: With one in eight women expected to develop breast cancer during their lifetime, per the CDC, early detection is the key to saving lives. When discovered early, and in the localized stage, the 5-year relative survival rate for breast cancer is 99%, per the American Cancer Society. The most important screening test for breast cancer is a mammogram, an X-ray of the breast that can detect breast cancer up to two years before the tumor can be felt by you or your doctor. “Patients should start anywhere between the ages of 40 and 50 and then get mammograms on an annual basis,” advises Dr. Audrey Gonzalez, MD, a family medicine physician with STHS Clinics. To schedule a mammogram, call #STHS Pre-Registration at (956) 388-2190. For more information on mammograms, check out our latest South Texas Health Minute on ValleyCentral.com. bit.ly/3VwvKzH

We believe the patient voice should be at the heart of care. Through open communication and informed discussion, clinicians and patients can work together to make informed treatment decisions, tailored to individual needs. We are delighted to partner with the brightest minds in prostate cancer treatment and care: Professor Alison Birtle, Consultant Clinical Oncologist at The Rosemere Cancer Centre, Preston, and expert patient advocates Dr Erik Briers and Carl Guenther, members of Europa Uomo EU, to explore the power of shared decision-making in driving personalised care for people living with prostate cancer. care for people living with prostate cancer. By focusing on what matters most to each patient, we can collectively redefine care, foster stronger patient-clinician relationships, and bring more timely, targeted and effective treatments to those living with prostate cancer. The current approach to cancer care is often reactive or passive, leading to significant gaps in critical stages of the care journey. At Color, we’ve created the nation’s first 50-state, fully-integrated Virtual Cancer Clinic to address these challenges. Watch this video to learn more. #TakeControlOfCancer

Almost all of us know someone who's gone through cancer and we wish they had more support. What if they had just completed their screening? What if they had started treatment before it spread? The what ifs never end... As an employer, you have the ability to give your people the proactive support they need to save lives and alter the course of entire families. You can do this all while being the hero who drives down major claims costs for your organization. If cancer has been a top cost driver year over year, my question is - what are you doing about it?
