2016 Resy Tech Year in Review

2016 Resy Tech Year in Review

Happy New Year! As a synopsis of what we accomplished in 2016, you'll find us listed #38 in Fast Company's list of the 50 most innovative companies of 2017 and #3 in their list of the 10 most innovative companies in food. We're among technology giants like Amazon, Google, Apple, Facebook and IBM. It's not a coincidence that we're on this list, we earned it...with a product team of just 10 people.

Here's a little breakdown of what we did last year:

  • Resy forged a partnership with and received an investment from Airbnb (they led a recent $13 million Series A round). We're working closely together to bring amazing experiences to Airbnb users as part of their Trips platform. Resy will allow Airbnb users to dine like a local, wherever they may be.
  • Our partners asked us for a reliable, durable service so we delivered with 99.99% uptime. A critical initiative for us in 2017 is making Resy even more unbreakable for partners like The Hillstone Group.
  • We maintained our PCI Level 3 compliance and will be SSAE 16 Type II certified this year. Your privacy is extremely important to us.
  • In partnership with Apple and Union Square Hospitality Group we built a product that allows a computer, via our flagship product ResyOS, to signal restaurant staff and operators via Apple Watch. Sommeliers at Union Square Cafe in NYC can peak at their Apple Watch and learn exactly what bottle to pull, where it is and where it needs to go.
  • We're feeding both Google and Apple reservation availabilities to enhance a number of their products by exposing Resy's inventory and making booking simple.
  • We introduced v1 of ResyPay to the world, a first of its kind mobile payment product for the hospitality industry. Matching a check to a user's reservation occurs seamlessly allowing diners to arbitrarily split the check and pay with multiple tender types like Apple Pay, bitcoin, a traditional credit card or cash.
  • We launched our Data & Analytics product that merges operational and point of sale data in real time and presents it to operators via the web or ResyOS.
  • We began building and testing a cutting edge system we call the Inventory Optimization Engine (IOE) that will radically change how our partners manage and expose their reservations to diners. We intend to pioneer this technology and make it available via API for developers building scheduling applications for bowling allies, conference rooms, restaurants and karaoke rooms.
  • In partnership with American Express we built and launched general admission ticketing and have sold out two events for the Golden State Warriors.
  • We launched Resy in 90 markets.
  • We seated a total of 16.5 million diners and now do so at the rate of over 2 million per month (and growing).
  • During the course of the year we delivered over 250 features for our partners.
  • We've issued API credentials to over 70 teams so they can build Resy into their applications.

We're going after all aspects of the technology here and providing substantial innovation for all of our partners. I write this almost mid way through 2017 and we're pacing to out do ourselves again.

We need your help. Join our innovative award winning team and help us continue to reinvent hospitality. We are continuously breaking boundaries and setting the standard for the restaurant industry. This is the time to join our team - apply here.
