International Women's Day with Giulia Olearo

In celebration of International Women's Day, we highlight Giulia Olearo, General Manager of Element Milan and a Chartered Electrical Engineer whose career spans multiple industries and countries.

“I am a Chartered Electrical Engineer with 10 years of experience in the testing domain and a Master's degree in Business Administration,” says Giulia. Throughout her career, she has worked in railways, off-highway, automotive, and energy sectors, establishing two Centres of Excellence focused on electrical vehicles and Lithium-ion rechargeable batteries. Having joined Element only last month, she brings valuable experience from her time living and working in Italy, France, and the UK.

When asked about International Women's Day, Giulia reflects, “It's a significant occasion to celebrate women's achievements, advocate for gender equality, and raise awareness about the challenges women still face worldwide.” She views the day as both a celebration of progress and “a call to action – encouraging individuals, organizations, and governments to work toward a more equitable future for all.”

For women entering technical fields, Giulia offers straightforward advice: “Don't be afraid to be ambitious and dream big! Even if it sometimes feels like you have to put in more effort than others to achieve the same goals, don't give up – talent and hard work are often more recognized than you might think.”

Beyond her professional life, Giulia enjoys a range of hobbies, including playing the piano, trekking with her husband Arnaud, and traveling to explore new places.
