In a historic moment for Indian cricket, Guwahati's Barsapara Cricket Stadium is set to host its maiden Test match during India’s 2025/26 home season, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed on Wednesday. This will make Guwahati the first city in the North-East to host a Test match, marking a significant milestone in expanding Test cricket across the country. (More Cricket News)

The Barsapara Stadium will witness its historic debut when India takes on South Africa in the second and final Test of the series from November 22. The series opener will be held at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi from November 14 to 18. South Africa last toured India for Tests in 2019, suffering a 3-0 series defeat.

Before facing South Africa, India will host the West Indies for a two-match Test series. The first Test will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from October 2-6, followed by the second at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata from October 10-14. West Indies last played a Test series in India in 2018, where they failed to win either of their two matches.

After completing their red-ball commitments, India and South Africa will shift focus to the white-ball leg of the series. The three-match ODI series will be played at Ranchi (November 30), Raipur (December 3), and Visakhapatnam (December 6).

The teams will then engage in a five-match T20I series crucial for their preparations ahead of the 2026 Men's T20 World Cup. The series will be played across five venues—Cuttack (December 9), New Chandigarh (December 11), Dharamshala (December 14), Lucknow (December 17), and Ahmedabad (December 19). India, the reigning T20 World Cup champions, will aim to maintain their dominance against South Africa, whom they defeated in the 2024 final in Barbados.
