John Cena shares past skin cancer issues as campaign launches

While promoting his new partnership with Neutrogena, John Cena revealed his own history of being diagnosed with skin cancer.

Cena, 47, is the face of Neutrogena’s new “Sunscreen You Can’t See” campaign to promote its new liquid sunscreen product.

Speaking with People Magazine, Cena shared that he “fell in love with the sun” when moving to Florida and rarely used sunscreen to protect his skin. Later, he discovered a cancerous spot on his right pectoral during a skin checkup with a dermatologist.

I was very lucky to have a great dermatologist who kind of, I guess for lack of a better term, held me by the hand and let me know that I wasn’t alone.

One year later, Cena had another spot removed near his right shoulder.

However, Cena says linking up with Neutrogena had nothing to do with his past skin cancer diagnosis, and he didn’t alert the company until halfway through the filming process.

Cena is set to headline WrestleMania 41 with Cody Rhodes in three weeks in Las Vegas. He announced last July that he would retire from in-ring wrestling after 2025.
