Both husband and wife have unfollowed the other, then refollowed, then claimed they didn’t mean to unfollow, and all of it is newsworthy to the internet. Justin Bieber’s Instagram activity recently raised alarm bells when he deactivated for a total of 17 minutes on March 29; when he reappeared, Hailey Bieber was reportedly no longer following him. And during a Selena Gomez album cycle, no less. Should we be concerned? No, really, do we have to?
January 21, 2025: Justin Bieber unfollows Hailey Bieber on Instagram, then promptly refollows her that same morning. “Someone went on my account and unfollowed my wife,” he claims on his Instagram Story.
February 15, 2025: Hailey Bieber shares a belated Valentine’s Day photo dump on her Instagram, obviously featuring her husband. This is still her most recent grid post with her husband.
February 20, 2025: The couple attends an event for Hailey’s skin-care brand, Rhode. A relatively mundane video of Justin talking to Refinery29 editor Sara Tan goes viral because, according to one commenter, “He’s got the itchy-itchies and geeked smile …” Whatever that means.
February 21, 2025: An unconfirmed source tells “Page Six” that “Justin is going through a hard time and Hailey is doing her best to be there for him, but there’s only so much she can do.”
March 13, 2025: Justin posts a poem about his imposter syndrome on his Instagram Story. “People told me my whole life ‘wow Justin u deserve that’ and I personally have always felt unworthy,” he wrote. “If you feel sneaky welcome to the club / I definitely feel unequipped and unqualified most days.” Cosmopolitan theorizes the next day that he was actually teasing new music.
March 19, 2025: Sources claim Hailey Bieber is pursuing her legal options when it comes to a viral “seven part” TikTok series alleging she stalked her now-husband and his ex Selena Gomez. The original video “Hailey Bieber’s Dangerous Decade-Long Obsession” was uploaded to YouTube in August 2024.
March 22, 2025: In a posting spree, Justin shares a series of three strange photos, including one of what appear to be shipping containers, on Instagram, alongside the caption “I got anger issues too, but I wanna grow and not react so much smh 🤦♂️.” The same day, he posts a video of some people, including himself, jamming out in a living room. It is captioned “I think I hate myself sometimes when I feel myself start to become inauthentic / Then I remember we’re all being made to think we’re not enough but I still hate when I change myself to please people.”
March 29, 2025: Justin Bieber goes live on Instagram, shirtless, holding the camera extremely close to his face and playing snippets of what fans theorize are new demos. Shortly after the live ends, he deactivates, then reactivates, his account.
March 30, 2025: Fans notice that Hailey is no longer following Justin on her Instagram account.
March 31, 2025: Two days after the brief deactivation, Hailey refollows Justin and comments on a TikTok video about the unfollowing. “It’s a glitch,” she writes, per “Page Six.” “Didn’t unfollow him. Hope this helps!” Justin, for his part, posts a collage of Hailey giving the middle finger to the camera on his Instagram Story. Real.
