They have no wider plot-relevance but otherwise they're on the same level as any proper episode. The production values for the performance at the end were also surprisingly high for this kind of show.
Should be time well-spent for anyone who enjoyed the series.

I suggest you watch the main series first and then these OVAs as it already introduces all of the characters. These OVAs follow the goofy aspect of the show, so if you enjoyed that from the TV series, you'll enjoy this.
