Msybe because I skipped through most of the 3 episodes I missed out a lot of detail but here goes.....
asside from noticing the improved animation more or less straight away. I have to say that this "special Edition" is a bit of a dissapointment as its just some of the series's episodes which have been revamped. it would have been better if it was a short continuation of the original seed/seed destiny series; e.g. episode 50 of seed/seed destiny? kinda like an "after war" type episode.
being the true Gundam type mecha fan I am (I say this because even if the storyines shot to shit like a pissing kamikaze if the mecha animation & design is good.who gives a shit about the story! well maybe i might do a bit but not so much!)
the "special Edition" is more a luxury then a nessatea. it would be nice to have it but then you wont lose anything if you dont have it.
If u can download it then do so but dont waste your hard earnd cash on the dvd set. its really not worth the money.
Gundam stargazer C.E will be out soon. this looks to be a great hit. ive seen the trialers & I must say that Im really impressed with their animation. get ready for a more modernised 3d approach to mech fights!!!!!!!!!

Well this is the first movie based on Gundam SEED Destiny... anyway let's get to the point (ONE)
Animation:
As far as I am gundam and mecha in overal fan I admit that this series is worser than the previous one, however animation is one better point in it. Sometimes it is really flawless, sometimes it sucks... (especially when recaps are shown) however it keeps good level and reduced computers usage and scenery to absolute minimum (I hated water reflections and explosions in previous Gundam stories... SEED as well) what is a good ponit (especially looking at other different recent mecha anime - ex. Aquarion... :|)
Sound:
It was the thing that I liked the most in previous SEED. Final soundrack with tremendous "Fllay's death" and "Freedom and Justice" owned and still owns everything undoubtely. The same with Destiny. Again I liked Lacus singing "Fields of Hope" (and it DO connect to the things on the screen - Lacus sings it to give hope to all those kids around her, dude). Moreover openings and endings (talkn bout series in overall at the moment) are really good this time. "Bokutachi no Yukue" and "Kimi wa boku niteiru" are very good songs and connects with anime perfectly... however there was no single time in this anime (except mentioned "Fields of Hope") when I felt like show really played on my emotions. SEED did. Especially when Fllay died... and it was due to the music...
Story and Chara:
Unfortunatelly it is very similar to the one from previous SEED what makes show sometimes boring due to the fact that we do now reactions of some well known charas... Shinn persona really sucks at the beginning and I personally couldn't stand waiting when Kira appears since I don't like Athrun very much. Well known characters mixed with some new and quite interesting (like Meer or Luna) makes this show somewhat interesting but still it does not make such an impact as SEED did on me...
Value Enjoyment:
Well then, as I said I enjoyed the series when it was in TV so I have nothing against Specials. Some new scenes, personal view on action and remastered battles... it is what makes Special worth seeing for anyone who likes mecha... However it was developed so quickly that you'll need to know a little about previous SEED and Destiny at all to understand some conversations and battles... that's all... Otaku fighting!

ANIMATION: They're still some stock footages. That annoying slow motion scenes with the inverted color background is still there. The quality in the art goes up and down in random places. Still images on shaky camera angles. -_-
Only good thing is the quality in the color and design.
SOUND: I find a couple things wrong, T.M.R's zips song is overused. I find it wrong when lacus is singing Fields of Hope in the Unius 7 impacting scene while everything dying. A song of peace in a scene of destruction... how ironic.
STORY: Even in this special, it still has some flaws. Some added scenes were pointless and some were too sudden in change. This is due to poor script writing. There's sympathy for the ZAFT's side but not on EA side.
CHARACTER: Shin is the most perfect example for a teen suffering loss and war. Emotionally, he's a realistic angtsy character that struggles and hard go move on, but because of that, he's the most dislikable character in the series. Most other new characters don't really develop well until the very end. Kira has no development since he has no struggles. However, the biggest character flaw is Asuran. He was fully developed in SEED but still hasn't moved on. The major thing wrong about the characters is the aftermath of the battles. When characters die in battle in an impossible surviving situation, they should stay dead.
Value: Not worth buying. Maybe download or making an amv outta the angstiness. Definetely not for first time Gundam watchers.
Enjoyement: The pretty colors, art, design, music, and the cliffhangers is what attracts the viewers to keep watching.
