The captain of the 9th Division at the start of the series. He has been blind since birth, but is capable of using his spiritual sense to "see". Tousen is an extremely calm and serious pacifist, though he will not restrain from fighting for what he believes in or preserving justice. These philosophies were adopted from a peaceful friend he had before becoming a Soul Reaper.
