An emergency department (ED) storeroom where a pensioner had a rectal examination carried out last year is an “escalation space”, the health trust responsible has said.
Co Fermanagh man Eamon McCaffrey had attended ED at Altnagelvin Area Hospital in January 2024 after suffering abdominal pain as a result of what would later be diagnosed as a badly abscessed appendix.
