Residents evacuated as emergency services attend fire in Co Down

Emergency services are attending a fire in Co Down.
Police and firefighters are currently on the scene at Tower Court in Newtownards.
It is understood the incident is at sheltered accommodation in the area.
"Officers are assisting emergency services colleagues with the evacuation of residents,” said a police spokesperson.

"Cordons are in place and we would ask that the public avoid the area at this time. An update will be provided in due course.”
Three fire engines remain at the scene, with four operating at the height of the incident.
A number of ambulances are also present, with several fire service response cars also in attendance.
It is understood firefighters entered the building using breathing apparatus.
Neighbours in the area told the Belfast Telegraph they had heard the fire alarm going off in the building earlier on Tuesday afternoon and reported seeing several paramedics, firefighters and police in attendance shortly afterwards.
The NI Ambulance Service (NIAS) said no patients had been taken from the scene.
"The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service received a 999 call at 18:09 on Tuesday March 25 following reports of a fire incident in the Tower Court area of Newtownards,” said a spokesperson.
“NIAS despatched two emergency crews to the incident.
“Following assessment and treatment at the scene, no patients were taken to hospital.”
