Margaret Canning Business Editor
As business editor of the Belfast Telegraph, Margaret leads year-round coverage of business news and is involved in flagship events such as the newspaper’s Business Awards and IT Awards. She is responsible for the Belfast Telegraph 30 Under 30 and the Belfast Telegraph Top 100 Companies. From Co Armagh, Margaret studied law and French at Queen’s University, graduating in 1998. She later studied journalism at Ulster University and joined the Belfast Telegraph in 2007. Her track record of exclusives include breaking the news of the sale of UTV plc’s TV division to ITV. In 2024, she revealed that Orange Order leader David Mahon had bought Belfast’s historic Crumlin Road Courthouse.
