Full-time: Karslruhe 1-0 Hannover

Karlsruhe win deservedly on balance against a committed, and at times superior, Hannover. The opening phase belonged exclusively to the visitors; Karlsruhe only woke up late and then had more possession. The opening goal came during a strong phase, after which the visitors took control again. Apart from a big chance in the final seconds, the Lower Saxony side couldn't create enough clear-cut opportunities.

He must score that!

After a long ball into the final third, Gindorf suddenly breaks free and can finish from ten metres out, but puts the ball wide of the left post. That was a huge chance for the equaliser!

A bit too high

Oudenne dribbles again down the left side into the penalty area, but his high cross is then too high for a header attempt from Tresoldi.

Continued great efforts

Hannover have been applying constant pressure for a good ten minutes, but they're hardly managing to create any truly dangerous chances. Karlsruhe are defending cleverly and are now taking time off the clock at every opportunity.

Oudenne takes too long

He's already in the penalty area, but goes into a dribble again instead of looking for a quick shot. In the end, enough Karlsruhe players are in front of the ball and manage to block it.

xGoals
The xGoals value of a club is calculated from the sum of all goal probabilities (goals and shots on goal) of that team. During a match, it’s easy to see whether the club is performing better than expected (goals > xGoals) - or maybe even higher (xGoals > goals).
According to xGoals, Karlsruhe are clearly ahead, so based on the data, the current scoreline is quite justified.

Christian Eichner on facing Hannover

"Hannover are a team that made a managerial change during the winter break to make a push for the top spots in the second half of the season. They defend very well and it's difficult to score goals against them. I expect an opponent who will play to win. At the same time, I also expect Karlsruhe to ignite the crowd tomorrow evening."

André Breitenreiter on facing Karlsruhe

"Karlsruhe possess great footballing quality. It's a challenging match for us."

Goals on the cards?

None of the 23 second-tier matches between Karlsruhe and Hannover have ended 0-0.

Record victory

On 24 November 1986, Hannover won 8-0 at home against KSC (three goals each from Bastian Hellberg and Gregor Grillemeier) – this remains Hannover's record victory in the Bundesliga 2 and Karlsruhe's heaviest defeat in the second tier. At the end of that season, both clubs were promoted together.

Will the strikers score again?

Karlsruhe last won against Hannover in May 2023, with Mikkel Kaufmann and Fabian Schleusener scoring in the first twelve minutes of the 2-1 home victory.

Hannover have the advantage over KSC

Hannover have collected seven points from their last three matches against KSC. In the reverse fixture, the Lower Saxony side fell behind due to a goal from former 96er Marcel Franke (currently suspended due to yellow cards), but won 2-1 late on through a penalty converted by Marcel Halstenberg (89th minute).
