About us
The IBEW represents 838,000 active. and retired who work in a wide variety of fields, including utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government. The IBEW has members in both the United States and Canada and stands out among the American unions in the AFL-CIO because it is among the largest and has members in so many skilled occupations. As union members, we bargain collectively with our employers over wages, benefits, and rights. Most of us have very limited bargaining power as one person, but as a group, we are strong. And, with a good negotiated contract, we have legal protections we would not have otherwise. “We have a lot of families who are a part of #IBEW, and there are lots of folks who struggle with infertility ... if we’re able to help these members and their families, that just seems to me to make a lot of sense.” https://lnkd.in/e7GkCb4x

Each year, the National Labor and Management Public Affairs Committee (LAMPAC) unites labor, management, lawmakers and regulators from across the energy industry to explore how legislative and technological changes are reshaping our nation’s energy infrastructure and the future of electric power. In a time where collaboration and communication remains critical, LAMPAC serves as a vital bridge, facilitating dialogue and fostering partnerships that help align the industry, the workforce, and the unions. This week, during the 18th Annual National LAMPAC meeting, I had the pleasure of participating in a panel conversation alongside Kenneth Cooper and Paul Noble from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and moderated by Maria Pope of Portland General Electric. Our conversation explored the critical role of collaboration between the workforce and management and how we can navigate ongoing uncertainty and rapid changes in our industry together. IBEW has been a remarkable partner to Exelon and many others in the industry over the years. I’m grateful that LAMPAC provides a forum where we can come together and strengthen partnerships. Thank you again to LAMPAC, Edison Electric Institute and Maria Pope for leading an energizing discussion, and congratulations as well to the various award winners I had to pleasure of meeting throughout the ceremony.

The partnership between Portland General Electric and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 125 is essential. It was a pleasure to join IBEW Local 125’s Travis Eri at the annual meeting of the National Labor and Management Public Affairs Committee. It was my honor to lead a discussion about the value of our strong industry-labor partnership. I want to thank Kenneth Cooper, Paul Noble and Calvin Butler for their participation. Thank you to the Edison Electric Institute and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) for convening this important conversation.
