South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley recently praised Bree Hall, stating she's "on my all-time defensive team" - with Hall now joining forces with Caitlin Clark at the Indiana Fever. Although Hall wasn't one of the prominent names drawing attention at the 2025 WNBA Draft , she was selected by the Fever with the No.20 overall pick.

Hall brings a winning pedigree to the Fever, having won two NCAA championships with South Carolina , including a historic unbeaten season where they defeated Clark's Iowa team.

With her defensive prowess and experience, Hall will bolster the young and exciting Fever team as they strive to return to the WNBA playoffs. Throughout her career, Hall has achieved remarkable success, including three SEC Tournament titles and consistently shutting down top players.

Staley's praise for Hall is significant, given her experience coaching talented players like Kamilla Cardoso, Aliyah Boston , and A'ja Wilson. Staley lauded Hall's defensive skills , saying: "Bree's an elite defender. It's elite – the things that she does, the people that she has to guard.

"In my 25 years of coaching, she's on my all-time defensive team – all the players that I've coached – because she's very consistent with it, and she relishes the challenge."

While Hall may not have been up for any national defensive accolades during her collegiate career, Staley highlighted the recognition she did receive, saying: "People are watching. It's just not the people who will give credit like other people. Fans and people who really understand what's happening out there on the floor give her her flowers, and I'm happy that they do."

Staley's insight proved accurate, as Hall secured her reputation at South Carolina as a premier defender, consistently tasked with shutting down rival teams' top scoring guards. Throughout South Carolina's undefeated 2023-24 season, Hall recorded 9.2 points and managed 2.9 rebounds per game on average.

Widely regarded as one of the best defensive prospects in the WNBA draft pool, Hall steps into the league equipped with an abundance of experience, having suited up for more games than any other player in South Carolina's history over her four-year stint. She also captured the moniker 'Big Shot Breezy,' a testament to her critical three-pointers in pressurized moments.

Following in the footsteps of Boston, the No. 1 overall pick by Indiana in the 2023 WNBA Draft, Hall will embark on her professional journey alongside another high-profile South Carolina alumna, marking yet another chapter in the pair's decorated basketball narrative.
