Vanished Without a Trace: A Bus Ticket, a Phone Call, and a Missing Woman
According to the Hattiesburg Police Department, 19-year-old Asia Martin purchased a bus ticket from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to Denver, Colorado, on May 24, 2005, to assist her ailing mother. Three days later, on the evening of May 27, she spoke with her mother by phone at around 8:40 p.m. Shortly after that conversation, she informed her roommate that she was going out for a walk and left the apartment. That was the last anyone saw or heard from her. Asia Nicole Martin never boarded the bus to Denver and has been missing ever since.
Initially, Hattiesburg investigators suggested that Asia may have left of her own accord. However, this was completely out of character for her; she would never have disappeared without contacting anyone. Concern grew that she may have encountered danger, as she would never have willingly left her family, friends, or personal belongings, especially her ailing mother, whom she had intended to care for in Denver.
No suspects have ever been named in connection with Asia’s disappearance, and there is no confirmed information about her whereabouts. Since she went missing, her mother has passed away.
At the time of her disappearance, Asia Nicole Martin was 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighed 120 pounds. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Hattiesburg Police Department at 601-544-4910.
