* Based on a love comedy light novel series written by Kamishiro Kyousuke and illustrated by Takayaki.

Mizuto and Yume are a former couple who enjoyed a relationship in junior high school, but became more and more irritated at each other, and used their graduation as an opportunity to break up. But on the day before entering high school, the two reunite in the most unlikely way: with their parents announcing a marriage, with Mizuto and Yume now becoming step-siblings. Wanting to prioritize their parents' relationship, the two promise to not fool around with each other, establishing a rule where "the first one to get aroused" loses.

Severely underrated show. Probably, because of a somewhat open ending.

The Youthful Indiscretion is very strong with those two bookworms. They matured just enough to be capable of adorable sarcastic bickering, but not yet enough to truly open up their hearts to each other. Against all odds, they are getting there little by little, and that's what their story is about. It's fragile, gentle and beautiful.

Anime covers roughly 4 volumes of light novels, of which there are 12 now. Some big parts are skipped in anime, i.e. Kawanami x Minami past relationship flashback.
Manga adaptation is just recently caught up to where anime ended, so LN is the king.

Ending:
Volumes 4-5 is where Yume and Mizuto receive the most of their character development and come to realization of what it is that they desire, but it's only around 9-10th when they achieve their dreams, together again. Thank Haruhi, they finally got there.

This is really freaking good, man.
The first season's focus (hoping we get a second) is on dealing with the post-break up. Our MCs are mostly sensible. You won't get much of the miscommunication trope we're used to in our romcoms (they've already been through that) and so they often talk things out in a mature way, unless it's something they're personally torn about.

It's a really mature look at romance and romantic relationships, both by mature and immature (flashback)characters, and the growth that can result from failed relationships.

Do NOT be turned off by the title. This is a well written series.

Enjoyable SoL, likeable characters and very warm show in general. A lot of references to other anime (I think it's a tribute to Kyoto Animation but might be wrong). Definitely worth the watch, especially to those who enjoy single love line over harem.

This is much more complex than I imagined. A good cast of characters, albeit not many, with very interesting relationships. You'd probably never expect something more after just seeing the first episode & the title alone.

It's not some happy-go-lucky series, nor it'd be drama-heavy romance either. A lot of it is really more about good comfy comedy SoL with some casual depth into it. It's like watching some serious romance series without all the nerve-wrecking aspect that usually goes with it.

The character's designs are actually can be cute with some nice consistency. But just like one of their previous series, they got same-face syndrome.
