BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Erin Oczkowski scored four goals and Gabrielle Stitz netted three as fifth-ranked West Chester University defeated host Bloomsburg on the road, 13-10, in a battle of PSAC Eastern Division favorites Thursday afternoon.
West Chester (5-0, 3-0 PSAC East) improved its regular-season conference winning streak to 52 games with the win over Bloomsburg (5-2, 2-1), who was picked second in the preseason polls behind the Golden Rams.
Clinging to a vicarious two-goal advantage (8-6) early in the second half, West Chester potted four unanswered goals to double up Bloomsburg, 12-6. Stitz scored twice during the run while Oczkowski added another off a free position. The Huskies fought back by scoring four of the last five goals of the game. But, the Rams held the hosts scoreless over the final 3:28 to preserve the victory.
The Golden Rams raced out to a 6-1 lead in the first nine minutes of the contest. Oczkowski fueled the run with a pair of goals. However, Bloomsburg scored a pair of goals in the final three minutes before halftime and then opened up the second half with two more tallies to draw within two, 8-6.
MacKenzie O’Keefe (3-0) made seven saves in goal for West Chester. Shelby Iezzi made 12 saves in a losing effort for Bloomsburg.
West Chester returns home Saturday to take on Indiana (Pa.) at Vonnie Gros Field. The Golden Rams then host Rollins on Sunday at 12 p.m.
